Edge owners: Tuning thread

The lightning software is just the name given to the Edge update software. It has nothing to do with a Ford Lightning truck. It is the only way to update your Edge Evo as new releases are put out by Edge. The advantage is having any new features as they are added, and having the most up-to-date version of the tunes for your truck, and also as problems arise with features or stability they are addressed by Edge and fixed in the next update.

Question?
I received my Edge, went straight to level 2 and adjusted for tire size. I took it for a drive and notice a little more power but I also noticed at WOT shifting the wastegate sound like some others in here. Also, the Edge is shifting out of overdrive a little too soon on hill and when increasing the throttle. How can I fix this?? I know you can adjust shift points and firmness but don't know what to change to get the effect I am looking for. Thanks for any replies.

Blake,
You can go into the custom settings and modify the part throttle shift speeds in each gear. Move the part throttle 3-4 shift up about 4 MPH and give that a try. You may have to play a bit to find what you like the best. You can go thru and make a short shift file for a bit better fuel economy, but if like you say...you need a bit more run in a gear for your taste....you can run the program like I said to extend that gear out a bit further.

That should be brought up to Edge. It could be a simple software issue, but it may also be realted to hardware. I would start out with doing a relaod of the tuner software and strategy file using the Edge update software.

If its a hardware issue, Edge will offer you an RMA number to support you in sending the unit in, or returning/exchanging the unit. You can do this directly with Edge, or through the dealer that you purchased from. Once you have this RMA number, you can choose to contact the dealer for exchange or return based on the policy of that company.

Ok, my turn. I need some of this stuff figured out.
My Edge will not retain any of its settings when I do a custom tune, especially the important ones. I always have to reset the tires circumference. The speedo is way off from the GPS, not cool. Not only is the speed off, but it changes the actual mileage of the truck. Also, when I do a custom tune, it only works at the time it set it. If I turn the truck off, it goes to stock Tune 2 when I restart. I like to bump the shift settings, firmness, and top speed. I don't want to have to upload a new file everytime I start the truck to use my settings. I'm hope its a simple fix, and I did an update a couple of months ago. I know, someone will say do an update, but I have a feeling that it won't cure it, it didn't fix it with the last one.

The Edge should retain all your settings. When you start your truck does the screen on your Edge say 2 on it if you programmed lvl 2? If not then your not tuned to lvl 2. If you do not complete your key sequence after setting all your parameters it is not tuned. You need to turn the key off and then when it tells you to turn it back on turn it to on but do not start it. Let it program and then turn the key off when it says program complete. If you want to change anything later on in your program, turn your key on and then select custom program. Select the lvl you want and then go down to Load Previous Settings. Select it. Then all your parameters will be there. It sounds to me like your not doing something correct. The key should be on but the truck not running while loading your settings. Then turn your key off when it tells you to and then turn it back to on when it tells you to. When it says programming complete, you will hear your truck reset itself and then you're done. The sequence is as follows during programming:
Reading PCM
Writing program
Programming PCM
Programming complete.
There should be a status bar on the Edge screen during this process to let you know how far along it is.
