To add to my post above. Has anyone had to take their Edge out for warranty work and did they know that you had a programmer?

I didn't take my Edge out when bringing my truck to the dealer. They had to replace the alternator because of a whistling problem and they said they don't even worry about it. They can't do anything about a chip being installed unless they can prove that the chip caused the problem. If you leave the Edge on settings 1,2, or 3 without changing settings and have the proper gas you shouldn't have a problem. Diesel guys usually have a tougher time with warranty if they have a chip since they produce much more power. About the questions on the display, think of the Edge monitor as computer monitor. You can unplug or plug it in anytime except when you are programming. A depth finder on a boat is the same way. If there is not a contant 12 volts to start it up, it loses it's display. Design flaw I guess!

My dealer does'nt care if I have the EDGE or not, as my advisor and other mechanics with F 150's also have this tuner and rate it as #1

My dealer actually looked at mine and then went out and bought one for his truck. They now all have them! He liked the way mine drove with the Edge over his stock.

hey guys its been awhile since i posted a ? but any ways just went out and traded my 04 stx for a 07 super crew fx2 i see theres a update for the evo but they all say unstable whats that all about if it frys my pcm or something edge wont cover

I should be getting my Edge in a few days. What will I need to do before I install it in my truck? Will I have to update it or will it be ready to go?

what year truck is yours should be able to just plug it in but a update wont hurt got to install software any ways so might as well update it cool stuff in softwre. if you have an 07 you will need to update first though

You can goto Edge and download the latest version of the Lightning software here:

You will see the clickable link in this PDF file.

This installs the update software and drivers to your PC with the newest version. You can get this today and install it to be ready for your Edge Tuner.

You will then plug in your tuner and it will read the current software version and strategy list version and allow you to connect to Edge and update it if its needed. Our Edge units flip pretty fast, so I doubt there is an update out yet for yours....your ships Monday, and the order to us from Edge is less than 2 weeks old. Its fresh.We get Edge once a month normally, if we run out I will special order whatever part numbers we are low on or out of...so at times we get bi-monthly orders.

This will help you be ready for the tuner when it arrives.

What are some of the advantages and disadvantages of downloading the Lightning software?
