ok thanks y-blockhead..i just thought someone would have it i'll have to find a flexable tape measure..thanks again !!!
Or just mark the edge of the tire and the ground where the mark on the tire hits the ground, then roll forward one tire revolution until the mark on the tire again meets the ground, and measure the distance between the two marks on the ground.

That's probably the best way as you will have the weight of the truck on the tire.
Sorry to bring up an old thread guys but I got a simple quick question. I just bought an 05 with a 5.4 and was wondering if I buy the Edge does it come with canned tunes or what? and how would I go about getting custom tunes? Can the edge be data logged for custom tunes?

It does come with canned tunes.
I have since sold this truck to my son. I always run the Tow/haul tune. To go to the next higher tune required the use of premium fuel.
The edge will let you adjust certain criteria like shift points with in each tune. One thing I really liked about the edge is you can do a 4-up display of many different values and monitor them.
Hopefully someone else will be along and give you a better answer.
Thanks that was helpful. Is there a way that I can get custom tunes a well on it? Also what edge are you guys using? I see they have an evolution, cs, and cts? The main reason why I want the edge versus SCT or someone else is for the gauges!
I had the Evolution. I dont think there is any way to "custom tune" it. It has actually 3 tune options as I recall. #1 just changes shift points. #2 shift points and a mild tune. #3 shift and hotter tune requiring prem fuel.
And you can tweak the shift points as I recall.
Come on folks help this brother out with the exact things that can be tweaked.
I see this thread has been around for several years now, and I'm sure that this question has been asked here, but I really don't want to read 26 pages and seven years worth of posts.
I've been considering a tuner for a long, long time. The edge has been at the top of my list. I recently started looking into other tuners, but finally decided to go with the edge. I almost pulled the trigger and purchased one, but before I do, I want to make sure that I am really going to benefit from the tuner.
I have 2008 F150, 5.4L 4x4. My requirements are basically MPG and towing. I would like an improvement to my overall MPG, I pull a camper and I would like to increase my MPG when I pull the camper and I would like to increase my towing power. A lot of the posts that I've read talk about the performance that the person got from the tuner. I really don't care about performance. Sure, it would be nice to race around in my truck, but better mileage and power are more important to me.
Some of the posts that I've recently read sound like I just might be wasting my money. Will the edge really help? Will I be able to increase MPG and towing power?
Just wanted to say I bought an Edge just before I towed a Jeep Wrangler on a car hauler to Indiana. Left it as stock on the way down, kicked it into tune 2 for towing and DAMN what a difference it made. On the way down, it was almost constantly kicking out of OD on flat pavement til I locked it into third. Even in third, felt like the trailer was really dragging the truck bad. On the way back, I left it in third gear and did the tune, man it really woke up and was able to easily hit 65 to 70 without feeling like it was working hard. I use it as a daily driver in tow mode and boosted MPG from 13.5 to 17 on summer fuel. Best 350 I spent in a while.
Just to update this thread. As I have had my Edge CTS now for about 6 months. I love it. This is the best upgrade to this truck that anyone can do. That is my opinion of course.
First and foremost it got rid of that throttle delay. I am used to driving with an actual throttle cable. And this programmer got ride of the delay. I like the fact that I can move around my shift points and firmness. I am running -1 on my 1st shift and +2 on my 2nd and 3rd shift. Then up +18% on the firmness. Just right.
Also I ran the premium tune this summer and loved it. Really woke the truck up. The 2nd tune or tow tune is great as well and on regular is nice. This summer I saw gains in MPG of 1.5-2 on the tow tune and up 2.5-3.5MPG on the premium tune. Which paid the difference in price of the fuel.
I got mine used off of ebay for a good price. I like the color touch screen as well.
Are the Edge Evolution and Gryphon tuners basically the same except you can custom tune a Gryphon? Im looking into getting one of them with this years tax money to upgrade MPG and performance and im planning on a few other things that id need custom tuned.

Yes it is the same with custom tunes, diffrent splash screen and color but I do love mine
Lets see some comparisons of those that have AirIntakes and or Exhaust mods as well. Im curious to see If there is a major difference in power or economy as well. We get those questions all the time, and some good hard numbers would be nice.
i have a 2007 lariat. I believe it has a flowmaster single exhaust but not 100%. A friend wrecked his truck and gave me his spectre cold air intake. I figured wth its free. I was not expecting to gain anything other than maybe eye candy. I put that thing on and i was amazed by the difference in power. I dont have numbers but there is very noticable increase in like bottom to mid range power.
