For the most part i'm buying the edge evo for my'05 from all of the positive feedback (for the most part) on this thread. my only question is from other forums i've been reading about the tranny in these newer fords isn't the best. what affect would evo have on my tranny?, not just shift points or firmness, but long term affects, is it gonna shorten the seemingly already short lifespan of my tranny with these differrent programs, or maybe even prolong it a little with proper care? any and all info greatly appreciated. By the way, I
'm new to this site and just want to tell everyone hi and this website rocks!!!!!!!!

Edge Evo

Okay, so last night I unplugged my Edge. This morning I went to start my truck while 0*F and it fired up fine. I'm convinced that my Edge kills my battery or just will not allow the truck to start in the cold!

My Edge will not retain any of its settings when I do a custom tune, especially the important ones. I always have to reset the tires circumference. The speedo is way off from the GPS, not cool. Not only is the speed off, but it changes the actual mileage of the truck. Also, when I do a custom tune, it only works at the time it set it. If I turn the truck off, it goes to stock Tune 2 when I restart. I like to bump the shift settings, firmness, and top speed. I don't want to have to upload a new file everytime I start the truck to use my settings. I'm hope its a simple fix, and I did an update a couple of months ago. I know, someone will say do an update, but I have a feeling that it won't cure it, it didn't fix it with the last one.
So, either nobody from Edge wants to address this, doesn't have an answer, or they are burnt out of this thread?

Edge

Today went to start truck at -6*F with Edge unplugged, started fine. Every other time it is left plugged in and it gets cold out, it will not start!
I called Edge twice and left a message but nobody has returned my calls yet.

Call and hit "0" and get to the operator. Tell them you want to hold for tech support. DOnt leave a messege, hold and wait until they get to you. I hate voice mail. I wont leave it, and I dispise checking it......but is the nature of the beast. If Edge is like me....they have enough time to call back X number of folks per day...but they may get X*10 calls a day into the system.... I know I get so behind in my call back list that I throw it away every few days and start over. I need to become a bigger company and really hire someone. Anyone need a job for $6 an hour with no benefits? You must relocate to the doom and gloom of Pittsburgh PA!

Edge

Well, I called at least 5-6 times and sat on hold each time. I'm not going to eat up my whole cell phone bill while on hold! I also emailed them a while ago, no response.

TRX,

Have you tried E-mailing them. They responded quickly to my E-mail and were very helpful in solving my problem. I'm sure there is alot of you that don't like E-mail, but it worked for me.
Be sure to give them your HEX code and Edge version #.

Wanted to share ny experiance with Edge customer support.

After doing a lot of research I decided to go with the Edge mainly because I liked the idea of the gauges and the ability to adjust. I have had the Edge on my 1997 5.4 4x4 (231789 miles without any major repairs) for over 10,000 miles and am extremely satisfied, it made a huge difference in the way the truck handles in fact I have never made any other single modification that made a more noticeable difference. The gages and built in reader have saved me lots of hassle on numerous occasions and there customer service is phenomenal.

For Example: On 03-10-07 I was on my way back from Missoula Mt. and when I got to Cheyenne WY. I decided to tweak my level 3 program and increase my Timing to adjust for altitude again, and did a very stupid thing, I started the truck while it was still updating, well to make a long story short I locked up the Programmer and destroyed my pcm files so of Corse my truck wouldn't start, I tried everything I knew of to reset the truck and the programmer to no avail. I called the local Ford dealer and after listening to the lecture on how bad any type of tuner or chip mod was and that more than likely I had fried the computer they told me that it would cost me at least $100 and more likely closer to a $1000 to either reflash or replace the PCM/CPU. I didn't like either option. Maybe because the whole conversation with the Ford guys had heated my blood I finally woke up and started thinking and called Edge technical support and talked to Nate Halliday who asked me if I had any way to connect to the internet Fortunately I had my Laptop with me and was able to connect to the internet via the truck stops wifi, so Nate had me connect the Edge to my laptop and unlocked it sent me the basic Ford files walked me through the reflashing procedures and got me back on the road.

I had forgotten how much difference the Edge made since I almost always leave it on level 3 until I drove it up to Denver on the stock settings. Once in Denver I reprogrammed it to Level 3 again and had my 8000 pound Sports car back and rediscovered my love of this truck and Edge

Does the Edge have the level 3 shutter on your 97 F150?I hear lots of 04-07 owners are running level 2 because of the shutter they get on level 3.

No I have never felt it shudder, in fact on the few occasions that I drive as slow as 60 for any length of time the only thing that bothers me is that I can only tell the truck is running by the gages LOL. I leave it on level 3 because on that level I can set my cruise @ 75 in overdrive with the 1000lbs or so that I always carry and it doesn't even shift out of OD when climbing Monument hill (7% grade 2 miles long 7300' elevation). That is real world power not a number off a machine.

Of course chewing up the new 2 weel drive Hemi, while I am driving an old 4x4 Ford might have something to do with it.

This morning I noticed a warning light that came on on my dash for the emission system. I pulled two codes from my Edge
1.)P0138 (hos512 circuilt high voltage)
2.)P2271 Sensor Signal Stuck Rich Bank1 Sensor 2.

I'm more worrried about this second one. I returned the truck to stock and the warning light went off. I was running Level 2 on my Edge, with no changes made to the timing. Now I haven't downloaded a new version from Edge since last summer (right after I installed it) do you think this could be a fix for it. Or do you think I should contact Edge?

Just ordered my Edge. Since it is going up in price on April 1st I figured I might as well go for it. I can't wait to have different shift points and all the monitoring capabilities. Thanks for talking me into another mod! LOL
