You dont HAVE to...but a truck isnt a truck without a sweet exhaust note in my opinion.

WheelMA1 your absolutely right, but improving the intake just to have all those exhaust gasses bottled up by the stock muffler is counter-productive.

So absolutely you don't have to, but it'll improve performance, and as WheelMA1 stated it'll sound like a truck.

This is a great post...I sent a message to EDGE, hope they will answer soon. I read a lot about this issue most of it from this post...

I think there is some confusion in some of the posts and you are right!. Power level 2 is already set to work for Octane 87 and Level 3 is already set to work for 91. If you run different octane at any level you need to adjust the timing (+ or -) to match your fuel.

The issue which EDGE need to clarify is the effect of environment (climate, altitude....) and the condition of the truck!...very important in my opinion.
And hope those who have business with EDGE help in this regard, and by the way I have nit yet received the unit but think it will be good for the EDGE and customers!

fordtrkpuller,

Will look into it..

Thanks all!

Yes, once you load the tune, you can remove the unit from your dash if you do not want it. Just make sure the truck is off, and remove the unit. You should be able to fire it up and go!

Where did you get 'spark adjustment' from? Sounds like you are referring to altering the timing.

Edge

Got mine tonight, installed in 5 min and programmed in another 5. Seems like A TOTALLY DIFFERENT TRUCK! Way more fun to drive and I'm on level 2 with only changing the tire size a little. I expect to put on about 200 miles over the weekend on my otherwise stock truck.

Yes, you can turn off the truck after it is tuned and remove the display. It is a passive gauge device after the tune is installed. You do not need it permanantly mounted just for the tunes.......tune it, and remove it....or tune it, and use it as gauges....its up to the owner.

Thumbs up

I havent been here in a while. I also have not updated my Evolution in quite some time. one of the last updates I got from the Edge folks caused a "no start" on level 2. It took them a while to get me back up and going, but they did, and I was pleased.

My question today is: Has anyone experienced any "no start" problems after getting an update from Edge lately?

Dont get me wrong, I am well pleased with my Evolution. Just when the truck wouldn't start, lots of things went through my mind, like oh S@#t, computer is fried, warrenty is now void, and stuff like that. But I put it back to stock it it worked fine.

My truck is an 04 F-150 with a 4.6L.

I have the edge chip in my 5.4 06 scab. I cannot find the update page for edge. the one in the manual does not load. Also my truck seems like a mega dog. I have an airaid cold air intake. I have catback 3" exhaust with a flowmaster super 40. The truck souds great but the guy i work with totally waxes me with his KN Intake/ Superchip / 3.5" exhaust with a 50 series flowmaster. I cannot even come close to the 7 second 0-60 times that you guys claim. Mine is 9.5-10.5 with the quater at 17.75-18.50. This thing is way too slow and something seems wrong. Any ideas?

got my Edge unit, connected and programmed to level 3 in no time!

But need some help with the customization?
changed the tire size and timing no problem but have these questions if you don't mind:
- after custmization, how can we go back to the EDGE original setup?

- I made a mistake by changing the timing to +1, where it should be +2!? what shoud I do?

-another question: When going to customization what are the these values? example the gear ratio show 3.73 where my ration is 3.55?

Thanks
