i got my edge a few days ago and i have it set to level 3. The shift from first to second feels like it jumps. this is with 3/4 to full throttle. how would I change this, should I soften the trans. shifts. Thanks guys
Bump. Been running Level 2 for a few months now, and I see no reason to even fiddle with the tuner again. It provides some good perk out of basic 87 (and its getting more expensive by the day to justify Level 3, 91+).
Probably been asked before but I have been to the otherside for a year now and just came back. I assume you can use the tuner with the e85 gas or can you.
After thinking about it I don't think you can
No, level 3 is a minimum of 91 Octane. You cannot run that tune, with 89 (or you can, but you would have to run the timing -1 degree).
What about up here in Colorado? 89 Octane is our 93 Octane in say, California. We start at 85 Octane because of the altitude. 85, 87, and 89 are the flavors up here. I'm interested in the programmers, but not from a cost-savings standpoint.
I also see that it says not to run E85 with the programmer. Is it easy to go back to stock? The reason I ask is that E85 is sitting steady at $1.99 a gallon out here, and I run a mix of it unless I can only find gas.

My Edge is no longer in use (sold the truck, so I'm trying to get rid of all the accessories I had for it), but if memory serves, there is a section in the manual that tells you how to compensate for altitude differences.

It takes about two minutes to change a tune, and the only tool you need is an opposable thumb (unless you are a donkey or something.... suppose you could operate the interface with a stick in your teeth )
I actually got the Edge to maybe boost mileage. I know that most people report that they could not keep their foot out of it and that the gauges were worth the price.
So far I have gone through 3 tanks of gas with different settings or octane. First let me say that the difference in my truck is remarkable and I havn't even tinkered with it much.
With the #2 and 87 I got 17 mpg hand calculated. With 89 I got 16.38 mpg. Now I have bumped up the timing a bit (1*) and when I left the yard tonight I couldnt keep the wheels from spinning. Also, I towed some light loads a bit with the 89 and #2 so the mileage is probably as good if not a little better then the 87. With the stock tune I gained 1 mpg by going up to 89 octane. That exactly corresponded with the increased cost of 10 cents a gallon more. I will continue to play with it and I will ad my voice to the "you just gotta get one" crowd.

Just wanted to let you know that we can write custom tunes if you'd like to utilize your E85 capability. www.phptune.com
I just ordered the Edge for my 2006 SC XLT, I bought it mainly for the gauges, but I'm wondering if there's a setting that will allow me to stay off the brakes on the way down the canyons. FWIW, I drive up Little Cottonwood canyon ~60 times per winter for skiing, & I'm wondering if this can somehow help on the way down. I expect to receive the tuner/pod tomorrow.
