Z rated tires

Does it matter if you enter yes or no to the question about is your tires Z rated? I have Mickey thompson ATZs, are those z rated or not?

Performance wise or does it have an affect on your changing tire size? Thanks in advance.

Aloha,
Kaipo

If you say "no", it will not raise the speed limiter.

Bought an used 04 that Ford dealer says may be already tuned somewhat by previous owner. Can I now install my own superchips or other tuner to adjust for tire size/power/shifting? or am I stuck with what the truck has or doesn't have?

Thanks,
PK

You could either buy a tuner and try it. The tuner will tell you if the trucks computer is not stock.
Or
Take the truck to the dealer you bought it from and ask them to have the truck flashed with a stock program and then you can use the SC programmer.

Stay Tuned!!!

Question Stuck in the middle of BFE,

Installed the 'paq on a bone stock 2005 F350, auto., and went w/ the perf. tune, so that a 0-60 run time could be recorded, truck started, ran fine, UNTIL it went to shift into 2nd, and BOOM, now the truck is stuck in 1st gear!
Went to de-program truck, and screen states "not the original truck, or program, call Superchips (which is only open Mon.-Fri.!!!), and use code#E-36".
Any and all help, would be appreciated, we've disconnected BOTH batteries, and shorted + and - leads together, in hopes of resetting truck, nada, nothing... please help.

Thanks again, BR, (and his b-i-l)

Why is my truck spitting coolant out of the reservoir? I have it in performance mode and never reach over 1050 degrees or 18psi boost????? I have towed with it before in performance mode (under 6k pounds) but always watched my temps and never exceeded anything. It normally runs @ the min. level. Like I said it has never done it until this weekend. Any suggestions?'04 PSD with the 1704 tuner.

Chata...You really shouldn't tow in Performance mode. The Tow-Haul mode is setup ideally for Towing. SuperChips has said in the past up to 6000lbs, but I don't think they recommend you doing this on a regular basis. Maybe Vic and respond on towing while in any mode other than Tow-Haul. I would return it to stock before you leave in the morning and take it to your dealer. Is the service dept at your dealership Mod-Friendly?

I wouldn't offer the info you gave here though(grin).

We aren't pushing these things too hard.....boost is still reasonable and EGT's are low.
The tuning will not cause a failure in the vehicle (this has been tested extensively), and should you ever have an issue with your truck....ALWAYS restore the stock program before going to the dealer.
If you follow this procedure, you will not have any warranty issues.

There were some serious problems with the 6 Liter (especially initially, so Ford has seen a number of failures in stock trim). If a trip to the dealer is necessary for any reason, ALWAYS return the truck to stock first.
I have a 2006 F250 PSD with air intake and 4 inch turbo back exhaust kit. I have had many people tell me when using a programmer/tuner it leaves a footprint in the ecm and even if the programing is uninstalled Ford can still tell that the truck has been reprogrammed? The cost of repairs if something breaks is not worth the gain of performance and economy. THANKS!

Opinion

It is my opinion. I didn't spend over $40K on a truck and do something that will put my warranty in jeopardy. I just want to know if there is any truth to the foot print being left in the ecm from programmers and modules. I don't do allot of extreme things with my truck I just use it and don't want Ford telling me that this performance chip is the reason as a way to get out of fixing it.

I normally do not tow regularly. I tried it because I read a post by Vic Ferrari stating "just watch your temps". I have been montoring it (no tow weight) and it seems to be o.k. Coincidentally, what type of colant does this thing use? 2004 PSD. It seems to be yellow in color. Can I buy it anywhere beside FORD????

Superchips Ron,

Any ideas on my problem I had? I filled the reservoir, stopped towing and no more coolant blew out.
