I don't know what your exact relationship is on the other boards, but since it's common knowledge (and you've mentioned it so many times on this thread) that you are THE MAN behind the fine product most of us own and all of us are interested in, it should come as no surprise that people would ask for and especially value your insight where it comes to the SCMT.
The suggestion that Superchips might want to assign a "go to" rep to this thread specifically is actually an excellent idea, as many people (myself included) find this thread out of an interest in purchasing the best product for their needs. I realize you come here on your own time, and for recreation, but you really can't fault others for seeking out answers from "the Shell answer man" who resides in the secret depths of the tuning department.
Now please don't misinterpret my point ... I'm not trying to pressure you into doing something you clearly would prefer not to be doing. I'm just trying to present some perspective as to what the average person is thinking when they visit a thread dedicated to the SCMT and subsequently discover that the guy who turned their truck into a fire breathing funhouse regularly posts here...
As has been said so many times in this thread, thanks for taking the time to enlighten and assist us in getting the most satisfaction out of our tuners!!!
The 6.0 is definitely a great engine, but a "problem child" of irritating design flaws. I (and others) am working on something that everyone will be very intrigued with IF/when it's done. I'm not talking product, but information that, once fully gathered and shared, will be very valuable to 6.0L owners..
Come on Vic that is like waving candy in front of a kid. LOL
Anyways looking forward to the info whatever it may be and keep up the GREAT work.
I have just got the RA number to return my scmt for the hard shifting. Has anyone had this problem and what is your truck like now? Also Will this update my scmt with the most up to date version? This unit was built in june of 04 and wouldnt work on my uncles truck because his build date? Would it work now? I anyone has any answers they would be appreciated
Draws a LOT of attention! I noticed with mine though that I don't get nearly as much black smoke now, when I first ran the tuner at about 2000 miles and took it out for a drive I had walls of nasty soot black smoke pouring out of the exhaust. Now its alot more reasonable - makes me wonder what kind of crap was in my engine maybe due to the EGR valve?
Mine is bad enough that the bedsides and bumper are turning black. I have had the HP tune in since Dec. 04, but it is recently that is seems to smoke even more than it already did.
Since the boost and EGT has not changed it shouldn't be a problem.

03's smoke more, but they also make the most power =o)
Mine makes enough power that sometimes its scares me to think about the driveline.
Especially after blowing out a rearend at 46,000 miles and cracking the case.
I love the smoke though especially with the dual 4" pipes I can leave a fog at a stoplight that you can't even see the cars behind you for a few seconds. LMAO
Well I gave the ECON tune another try, (more cold starts) and doesn't seem to run as well as the HP and has some drivability issues that I don't recall being as severe as High Perf. It clunks hard when turning off or decellerating w/ CControl and jolted the driveline badly one time in particular. Is this usual or is there an update/fix for it?
It feels like the truck is pulling so hard (80-90mph) under power, once you decellerate it shocks the drivetrain and the clunk being felt is the corresponding abrupt deceleration. (Aerodynamics, Rolling Resistance?)
I drove from Tucson (400+ miles) to Orange County basically unloaded (2 bikes mounted on a roof-rack) at approx 80mph avg w/ AC and got 14.1 mpg and took it relatively easy when passing . Seems pretty flat and couldn't tell if there was a head wind. So my economy accually decreased from my running average of 14.6mpg. Maybe the bikes result in a significant aerodynamic load.
I will set back to HP for the return trip and keep it there for a while and keep an eye out for the same characteristics while using CC. I will report the return data and driving performance. Maybe I'll drive slower although the I-10 was wide open .
Anyone w/ similar experiences or related update info?
I'm back from my trip to D.C. but off to Ramona today for a 90th birthday party for one of my wife's relatives.
That mileage sounds low for highway driving. As I recall, there is frequently a fairly stiff headwind coming West, but even rolling along at 80 I still get upwards of 19 MPG most of the time going that way. On this last tankful I didn't bother to reload the HP tune after pulling my trailer and left it on Tow Safe. Judging from the Lie-O-Meter (which hasn't been that far off usually) I averaged about 19 for the trip down to the airport and back (~70 miles round trip).
Hi all, This is my first post so take it easy on me ... I just purchased a 2005 F-350 crew LWB 4x4. I mentioned to the service manager (he also owns 2005 F-350) that I wanted to install the Superchip 1704-A .. Manager stated that he has seen a lot of problems caused by the superchips and it could void warranty. Has anyone out there who has installed the 1704-A had any problems? If so Please let me know what problems you have experienced. Al
