Good afternoon gents, a wet and gloomy day here this afternoon. A good day to goof off and surf the internet, since work is no fun. Ran into a couple of historic pictures of Ritzville I thought I'd share, just for fun. The first from the early 50's, the second from the mid 60's. It used to be a relatively bustling place, now probably one of the more deserted county seats in the state. If it wasn't for the handful of fast food joints at the I-90/US395 junction, bypassing the town, we'd never remember it was there.
ThongTastic Thursday morning Washington, Tim, Wayne and all the crew.
Interesting to see pictures of places over the years and see how things have changed or stayed the same!
Yesterday was pretty much a bust. It snowed, it rained, the sun almost came out and it was just all around not a good day. I just never could get excited about doing anything. I did finely make it to the shop and messed around a little.
One of my neighbors is relocating the main water line for our community water system across his property. The excavator that is doing the work is the same guy I have been working with installing water meters. If the weather holds today, I need to get down there and expose the water main. The water main is a 2.5" PVC inside an old 6" thin wall steel pipe. I use my 4" angle grinder cut lengthwise along the pipe in two location and then around the pipe at both ends. The trick is not to hit the thin wall PVC.
Cool photos Wayne, It would be cool to one form the today. I'll bet there is not much of downtown now.
It is a pretty quiet place. A couple times a year we meet the kids/grandkids there as they live in Post Falls and it's a good half way place to have lunch from time to time. Jake's Cafe puts on a good meal and I'd recommend stopping there if you're in the neighborhood and hungry. We got there early one time and had 20 minutes to kill before they arrived, so we drove around the town and took in the sights. It's very quiet. I'll have to snap a current pic next time we're there.
I think I stopped in Ritzville one time years ago. I used to live in Post Falls myself, my parents lived in Northern Komifornia, so I traveled that way a couple times a years.
Evening Tim. 40 and gloomy here all day. Not too bad if you kept moving.
That diagonal parking used to popular around here too but now they need more lanes thru town, so it is gone. Interesting to see it see on one side of the street in Rods pic.
Fantastic Friday afternoon Washington, Tim, Wayne, Ken, Steve and all the crew.
Wayne, I do like my Ritz as well!
Tim, I think if I were doing the cutting, I wouldn't be able to go to the bathroom for a week because my but would be so puckered!
Good morning WA...and...wandering enthusiasts...Happy Saturday For All!!! Gonna be a splendiferous day here...55* under mostly sunny skies...hope it's at least as nice in your little slice of heaven!!!
