Good morning WA...Happy Saturday For All!!! Starting out cloudy here today...rain moving in midday...could start off as a mix. Hope MA Nature is taking good care of you!!!
Tim...great job on the handle. Don't leave it on the table or the cat will knock it on the floor.
Good morning Ken and the rest of the storm troopers.
My cat Robin, is old now and doesn't get into much. When his brother Batman was alive and they were young, they were a handful.
Made a mistake when they were kittens and I was working full time, we let them get on the work bench because that's the only window. Once I retired and spend more time in the shop. I had to make sure there wasn't a stool to close to the work bench or they would be up there. Even at that one in a while one of them would take a leap of faith and try and make it to the bench. What ever was close to the edge would end up all over the floor. A box on the stool and shoved up close was the ticket, if I remembered to do that.
Joyous sunny Morning Washington, Tim, Steve, Wayne, Ken, Robin the cat and all the crew.
Jim, it seems Robin knew what she was approving, and it came out nice. Now it is time to get into hot bluing to protect some of them nice parts!
Started the morning at 44° and sunny and headed to a sunny 70°. Having been sick the last two week I have missed the nice weather and the fact the yard has grown to about 8 inches. Sadly, I must get out and mow the yard this afternoon for the first time this season. I don't really care what the Astrological, Metrological or for that fact any other Ology says - Spring is here!! At least in my woods. OH, we may still have some cold and maybe a flake a sheet, but Winter is over in my part of WV!
Mornin' Rod, and thanks for the positive outlook to our season change. Waking up today right at freezing, but the blue skies and sunshine this morning at least tease at similar results for a nice afternoon. We certainly won't hit 70 just yet, but upper 40's to around 50 may be achievable. First lawn mow is still a few weeks away yet. The lawn is still dormant, but the weeds are beginning to grow. If we can just get that frigid, glacial wind to stop blowing it will be all good.
Good morning Steve, Rod, Ken, Wayne, Trustin and the rest of the race car fans!
It was clear and 23° when I got up at 0700, it is now cloudy and 29°. I agree Rod, spring is here in my part of the world also. I started coming down with a little bit of sore throat and a cough, I may get and do a few things outside depending on the weather and how I feel. I may just end up in the shop again.
@NorthwesternCowboy Trustin, How's the search going for the motorhome? When does the race season start?
I'm probably not the one to tell you the best answer. I've never been one to keep anything stock or get exceeded about seeing a bone stock 18,000 mile truck, It's just not that exciting. If you have the means swapping in a 4-53 Detroit sounds interesting. I don't know anything about the 4-53 other than what I just looked up. It doesn't sound like your fuel efficiency is going to be any better. But what the heck.
In my opinion you have two options.
1: Sell the truck as is and buy something you like.
2: Do the Detroit swap. Get rid of the Ram thing on the hood, the horns maybe even the grill guard. Put a little lift on it and some bigger tires and wheels and you will have a pretty cool truck!
Good luck man, Thanks for checking in!
I plan on getting rid of the cab lights, horns, the horses on the hood and running boards for sure. I'd also like to swap out the front axle for a strait axle then do a 4" lift and find some nice 16" wheels that are a bit wider.
The Detroit idea is just a wild hair that keeps entering my mind. I have also thought about a Cummings swap but for the cost of the Cummings I could buy plenty of gas. *ha
I have thought about just selling but I really have no idea on how much I should ask.

Reason: Missed something
It was a pretty nice day here mostly cloudy with the sun busting through from time to time.
Buzz, If your looking for a daily driver and something that gets good mileage, sell that truck and buy something different. Otherwise, you have a good idea about removing all the old man goodies and putting a solid axle under it with a lift. Personally, I like the 460 it's a powerhouse and the one I had was very reliable. I would consider adding a Holly Fuel Injection system to it, that might even help the milage.

The whole trailer situation has been dragging out. Took forever to test lab results from drug testing and the results were that it was the most meth-contaminated vehicle they had ever tested. Decontamination quote upwards of 20k+ and insurance is hem-n-haw'ing over that while I continue to pay my premium and storage fees for a 40-ft biohazard - So we have not been able to move on to the next phase of choosing a replacement vehicle cuz I don't know if insurance wants to nickel-and-dime restoring the trailer or it they'll total me out.
I think end of April or May is when racing season starts crossing their fingers that the weather will cooperate for some racing. GT500 is ready to go, but I still have line-lock and WOT box I haven't installed that would give me some more staging/launch abilities. I still haven't done a single launch on my slicks, so I'm mildly nervous about lining up, two-stepping 5k and dumping the clutch, but that's where I've built the car to so far. It's going to have heat management issues that pull timing unless I get around to some extra cooling/intercooler mods that this car stock simply isn't setup great by Ford. Should be fun regardless!
