Wow, I missed a lot since lunch. Just dropping back in. Glad you got it figured out!
Yes, that’s what I was picturing for the fitting but didn’t want to try and describe it too much from memory. The seal to the pump is made with the Teflon ring. There should be orings inside the swivel joint to provide a seal there but yet allow it to move. Seems like when I was changing the hose I read warnings to not over tighten the fitting to the pump.
The photo you found with 2 fittings I believe was showing the difference between a good and an aftermarket replacement fitting. The one on the right is missing the line. If I’m remembering this correctly, sometimes the crimp style will let the line slip out. My replacement line had the crimp style I think…

Thanks for checking back in! I'm just glad I didn't have to pull the steering gear back off!
That's good to know! I wasn't sure if it was supposed to be swivel or not. I figured it could swivel so you could put it where you want it and then tighten it down. I learn something new everyday!
I was wondering why there was two fittings in that picture!
That makes sense!
In the cold start video, is that TSC 15w40? Also, I recall you having new Bitterroot injectors, what flavor/size are they?
Yes. And the injectors are stock injectors with an AE in slot 8 only because he didn't have 8 AD injectors.
I would think with the high torque power master starter she would turn over a bit quicker but, that could be due to a chewed up starter feed cable to. Hence the new battery cable thread!
Over tightening that PS hose will 100% result in catastrophic failure.
I would consider replacing the whole line after all that it’s been through....
Do I really need to replace it though? It's not leaking. I never really overtightened it (I don't think). I just had a completely oversized o-ring on there. It was way bigger than the Teflon one I put in this time. It wasn't seating against the proper sealing surface and it messed the o-ring up. This is what I think happened anyway.
I do understand where you're coming from. And it probably is time for a new hose because, this one looks factory. I'll keep an eye on it and see if it leaks. If I remember correctly, Sous linked a forum from the tech folder on a custom hose for this spot. We will see how it goes.
We've got a forecast of cool weather and clear skies all weekend! It's going to be between 30 and 50° most of the time. I'm excited to start my axle swap in the morning! I may text you if I run into any issues! I don't foresee that happening but, you never know!
Well I had to drive the truck a good bit today for work, so I wanted to check my power steering fluid just to be on the safe side. Glad I did. I probably drove around 50 to 60 miles and I was a little bit low on my fluid. At first I thought well maybe it's just bleeding some air out but, of course to be on the safe side, I got under the truck and sure enough there's still fluid leaking. So after wrapping everything with napkins and cleaning everything, turns out my input seal is seeping some fluid through. I cleaned all the lines around it and I even rechecked the fitting I fixed yesterday and everything else was good. Went through all the lines, booster and all. I got a clear view after moving the 6637 filter to the side with the truck running. You can see it seeping out of the bottom of the seal on the input side of the steering gear. I could probably go three to four days of my regular work schedule without having to put fluid in. It's much, much slower than it was. I did fix a leak yesterday. It's a good thing I went ahead and ordered that seal kit online. When I pull the front end off in the morning I will pull the steering gear and swap those seals out as well. I'm thinking it'll probably add an hour to 2 hours to My overall time invested tomorrow. It sure hurt my feelings to see it leaking again today though!
I couldn't wait! I had to get started! I'm just doing a couple of simple things so that it will be ready tomorrow. Jacking it up taking the pitman arm loose, so on so forth. It's about time for me to go in and cook supper. Chicken alfredo tonight! I'm going to get this pitman arm off and head inside!
