it prevents the oil up in the block from draining thru the filter . It’s a rubber ring that blocks the filter holes when not under pressure. Basically a flapper valve. You can see it by looking into filter.
Stay safe buddy, I don't know about there but here if a dozen snow flakes stick to the road folks start looking for ***** to run into
A quick share here...
Last night I saw an older guy in a Ram 1/2 ton or maybe 3/4 ton truck who had at least 5 of those Ram decals on his back window. He was waiting on the side of the road as one of our tow operators was yanking out one of our local Muslims at the top of the side street... So anyways, I walked up to the Ram and told the guy he had a lot of Ram vaginas on the back of the truck (those decals look like the female reproductive system from a distance ). He was real serious when he said he was a Dodge guy. I told him I was a Ford guy and couldn't help myself...
I appreciate the thought but I'm just a guy who looks online alot and I'm no expert on this stuff. I just know how to find stuff online... but I can steer you in the right direction though.
I would ask this guy, @strokerdiesel@strokerdiesel02 the second one maybe the same guy. He apparently does the ZF6 swap into 7.3 4R100 era trucks, so maybe he would know if that adapter plate would work.
"Your main choices for a manual are the older ZF5 or the ZF6. The ZF6 for a 7.3 isn't the easiest transmission to come by. The bell housing is part of the trans so you will need a 7.3 version. You also need to get the trans hump from the floor of the donor, drive shaft, pedals, master/slave and the spacer. I just wrapped up a ZF6 swap earlier today, the spacer ended up being the one piece I couldn't find. If you don't find the spacer, 10ga steel works."
Here's a search for zf6 to 6.7 Powerstoke here. In this link, there are videos for a ZF6 swap to the 6.7 Powerstroke. I would also shoot an email to SPE and ask them to see what they say.
"A zf 5-6 whatever WILL NOT hold continuous power that a stock 6.7 can dish out. There is NO aftermarket shafts, syncro's or anything else out there to make a zf 5-6 any better than in stock form. The only gain over as auto trans would be for a competition sled pulling vehicle where you only want one gear, running for short periods of time, low range in the transfer case and need 4000+ rom to spool a large competition turbo.
All preferences aside no BS just the facts a zf 5-6 conversion would be very costly, slower and less reliable than a stock 6r any day of the week at all power levels from stock on up. They were designed to hold 650 input FTlbs of torque not 890 our of a stock 6.7. A 6.7 would eat it alive over not too many miles if towed heavy.
The zf trans is not cooled the same (3.5 quarts fluids capacity compared to 12+ quarts in most all the autos) as the auto. It will get hot and melt under high loads and high stress applications."
Hope this helps dude...
Post up if you go for this... though I lack the fab skills and knowledge, I love the "Built not Bought" mentality. I'm a huge fan of custom trucks.
I've been to the old stadium in Cleveland for a Bills/Browns match up... back in my single drinking days. My buddy and I picked up a couple of MILFs but didn't get in to the endzone... Good times. I live vicariously through myself now that I'm old, married, boring and don't really drink anymore...
Once I'm back to work on Saturday, I'll see of I can get pics of the giant pile of snow where they are dumping the snow from the streets in our town... I got a glimpse and it's quite impressive to say the least.
Yeah yeah... but you do live in Texas. The only thing I liked about the Cowboys way back when were the cheerleaders... I had a friend from high school that liked the Cowboys... They got a W today too... So I'm happy for you Troy.
