Gotcha...

Knock on wood for the vacuum pump for me. Another leak I have not had is the infamous oil pan leak. Just brainstorming it, but I've been wondering if it's because I installed the oil catch can which possibly prevented the build up of old oil/crud where the oil is supposed to drop back into the engine... which if that plugged up, the pressure would have to go somewhere and find the weakest point... maybe the silicone caulk seal of the upper oil pan where it meets the block. I don't know...

That the first time you R&Red the fluid for the trans?

nope, 3rd time I’ve changed the transmission fluid, even with oil being up, it’s still way cheaper than than hard parts.

My man!

I agree with your logic.

I did mine 3 times already but due to my used Mercon LV samples coming back in great shape, for both the trans and the transfer case (which I did each time I did the trans), I'm going out to 40k miles for the next pan drop.

Overkill - I’ve been running the Hotshots EDT with LX4 and the Better Diesel FBC with great success. Truck forces regen about 490 miles. I noticed the EGT4 during regen gets to 1100. I have added the Banks intake and 5” DPF back exhaust. I’ll try and watch idash during next one to see what temps are.

notes for those interested. Banks intake makes a VERY noticeable deeper sound.

5” exhaust adds some tone

Appreciate the comments and pics Squirrel. Thanks.

I'm on my phone and can't see your signature but knew you had an Alumina Duty because of the intake. If Banks made an intake with their Big @$$ filter, as they call it, for my truck, i would have bought Banks. The filter for MYs 11 to 16 are much smaller than their BA filter and the S&B filter for their intake that I bought.

I believe the newer 6.7s have the 5 inch exhaust option because you guys are making more power stock than us 11 to 16s. I was going to go with a different brand in 5 inch (looks beefy as eff) for my truck for looks alone, but was worried that it was too big for my engine and may actually slow down flow since Banks didn't offer one for my truck. My next big ticket purchase will be a Banks 4 inch DPF back tail pipe.

As to the increased intake note you are seeing with your Banks intake, I experience the same with my S&B intake. You can hear the induction of air into the engine. I love it.

I have a big bottle of LX4. I used it with my additive of choice, K100D+. But I'm not using it currently. I have been using Max Mileage from Pittsburgh Power since April as I believe it's a rebranded Better Diesel. Can't really tell if it's doing anything for mileage or not.

I've been off from work since the 17th so I have more lower speed driving since I don't have to take the expressway into work. I think that may be affecting the distances between each. I normally get 500 miles out of the truck. Since the end of June, I've had 3 regens; a regen of 20 miles, next one out at 406 miles at 17 miles long and the third one out at 373 miles at 20 miles long.

This is from my last regen...

EGT4 always hits at least 1100 deg F. I thought my S&B was keeping EGT1 cooler aa the last few regens saw them under 1k deg. But she hit a grand this time. I believe i remember seeing EGT1 get close to 1100 deg before while climbing those hills on the expressway.

As to the exhaust, I'm sticking w Banks and going with the single tip. I de-badged my truck so I like people thinking I'm running a gasser. They'll think that for sure with a single tip. Plus I figure if I want a 6 inch tip, I can buy a different tip to go on.

I'm going to keep an eye on the regens though... I always buy from the same source so I'm wondering if the fuel changed somehow lowering the regen cycle mileage between each.

BTW, love that huge exhaust tip.

I remember you saying that you usually use Diesel Efficient from EXXON and Mobil, same thing, but I will say lately I have gotten "good" fuel and "bad" fuel, not necessarily dirty, but I was low on additive and out of my Better Diesel FBC and I normally have been in the upper 16's and lower 17's but I got some fuel where my mileage had dropped into the 13's and 14's and I don't think it was dirty, I just think it was crap, or really high bio content, I'm not sure. It was all from reputable stations, didn't have the power like normal or fuel economy, so I believe in this day and age quality control is not the greatest. One would hope that while paying at or above $5 a gallon it would be quality product, but unfortunately that is not the case.

I'm thinking the same bobcat. Thanks for confirming that... Might have to switch up stations and see what happens.

Bio diesel gets lousy fuel millage. I avoid that as much as possible. I dont think the cost deferential is worth it. Only way to make good fuel is stop switching from summer to winter blends. Sure you guys that live in the tundra need the anti-gell but that should be all they add to the fuel. Is it any wonder guys are having emission problems?

interesting chart, on my '97 I run B100 in the spring summer and fall, in the winter I run diesel. with winter blend diesel I get about 16 mpg average, with summer diesel I get 17.8 mpg with B100 I get 15.5 mpg.
also curious what engine / vehicle this is that goes from 20.1 mpg city to 44.9mpg highway, that is a big spread.

Zero Emissions Diesels: How Ducted Fuel Injection can Save the Diesel Engine

I've read on this before. I don't believe it's moved forward in coming to market or rather being tested on a road ready diesel engine but I believe it shows promise in moving diesel ICEs into the future.

One could only hope... too many gov't agencies and too much over reach into our lives.
