During physical fitness testing they will NOT let you do knuckle pushups. I tried to go that route... 12 years or so ago I was riding a motorcycle home from work and someone turned left in front of me. I was wearing a helmet, gloves, jacket and boots, so only minor injuries. But, as I was flying through the air I put my left arm out to block the impact from the ground and sustained a very bad sprain in my left wrist. To this day, it bothers me on most days and every once in a while I will tweak it and it is painful for a couple of weeks or so.

My point being, when I would put my full weight on it with my palm down as the fitness test required for pushups, it was painful. I tried to get them to let me do knuckle pushups, but not a chance. Even though the knuckle pushups elevate the range at which I must lower and lift myself and it was less comfortable for the average person to be on their knuckles, I was not authorized to do so.

So, I would practice/work out doing knuckle pushups in preparation for the annual test. Once we were upon the test day, I would put myself in a different resting position on my elbows instead of on my palms before the command to start was given. This would lose me about 3 seconds on the test, but I never had a problem getting the 60 or so pushups in 60 seconds that were required for me to get maximum points.

Then, I used anger to power me through the 1.5 mile run and situps portion of the fitness test. I hate running...

In the interests of full-disclosure, back towards the end of March I had contacted DPS with regard to the vane actuator on the Turbonator responding slowly to commanded actuator position. It looks like they were aware of the problem because they had (still have actually) a heavy duty actuator in development. I was promised one of these new heavy duty actuators and a new controller to go along with it as soon as they worked the bugs out. Fast forward to Friday June 25th 2021 and you can see that the actuator has failed after 7 months 2,500 miles. Pay particular attention to the Turbonator readouts in the lower left corner:

To DPS' credit, they responded to my email the same day even though mine was sent 1645 CDT on a Friday. Their email included a FedEx tracking number for a new actuator. It is still the same style of actuator as what I have now because lockdown logistics have stymied their development of the heavy duty actuator. I will keep you guys posted on developments.

Out of curiosity, this development make a compound system look more appealing in your eyes?

Brokestroke has a 363 for sale, just sayin’.

Sorry, that was mean. I hope the new actuator lasts a long time. The drive/boost ratio in your video was all whacked out at 3:1.

Not really. My original reason was that I wanted to retain EBPV/exhaust brake functionality and the Turbonator turned out to be the easiest, cleanest, albeit expensive way to do it. I will admit to having daydreams of an S488 atmospheric feeding the still Turbonatored S372 though.

Hey, two parallel 363 atmospherics as opposed to a single 488 may be easier to package in the engine bay!!

Yeah that drive:boost ratio was interesting to watch, wasn't it?

One turbo for each manifold/intake?

Yes, one for each exhaust manifold possibly. A 363/68 for one manifold (half the engine) is probably still too large though. Also, the plumbing (exhaust, intake and oil) for twin atmospheric turbos to feed the pressure turbo is going to be cringe-inducing.
