Maybe it is just the crappy speaker on my tablet, but I think the turbo has a bit more whine to it.
I am looking forward (Kate is as well) to meeting you in SD this summer if your schedule permits. If you bring the truck, you can show me the Turbonator in person.
Congrats buddy. Look forward to the shakedown video.

Thanks guys. I have missed driving my truck. Do we want to start a pool on how long this stretch lasts before something else breaks?

Hey it's MN man. What else are we going to do for a third of the year? To be fair, BW did respond to me very quickly. It's just that the warranty process has to go back up through the supply chain and that's where TCS Auto closing down has put the kibosh on things. I fear this may never be resolved and the remains of the S366 will become my newest paperweight.

Your ears do not deceive you. The turbine whistle through the exhaust is quite a bit more pronounced. I don't know why that is given that it is the same size as the S366 turbine more or less. If you stand by the tailpipe, it sounds like you are standing next to a relatively quiet jet engine.
Yes! I look forward to meeting you guys when you pass through this area as well. I was terribly disappointed when I couldn't make the GTG.

Not a chance! I am on the optimistic side and hoping for years of faithful and reliable service from the entire truck.

That is an interesting difference between the two turbos. I am very glad to hear you are pleased with it thus far and are back in the driver seat.
We all understood you not making the GTG and know there will be more opportunities. Keep us updated on how the turbo is performing along with the Turbonator. You have a rather unique build that brings a lot of questions and curiosity.
Well Leonard, now you just need to find that aluminum gooseneck race car trailer. I’m guessing you need to find that before the wife gets home? Trailer prices right now are through the roof...no pun intended.

That one I have full disclosure and approval for so I'm good on that front.
I just realized I didn't answer your question about the popped boot. Nope not on video. I made many stops running errands and the part with video was the only time the truck was running for more than 20 minutes. The part with the boot popping was a very rapid and spirited drive home from the shops.
I haven't been able to keep up, but learned just now (from reading this thread) that TCS Automotive, run by Jerry M.,(as distinct from TCS Auto, which appears to be a different business?) is permanently closed.
Accordingly, I searched for TCS Automotive in previous threads, to assess how often Jerry was recommended to members, thinking to update those threads for the benefit of future members. But then it occurred to me that wouldn't be necessary, since it isn't possible for future transactions to take place with a closed business.
What, exactly, did you purchase from TCS Automotive?
And from whom, exactly, did you purchase the new replacement to the failed component from?
Thanks. I'm sure this has all been discussed, both offline and on, but the spirited pace of posting puts new developments several pages back in a short period of time.
I believe I was the first FTE'r to utilize TCS Automotive and publicly state so in 2018. I found them after purchasing an SXE turbine at a good price from their eBay store. For the super core, I went directly to their commercial website. They offered great pricing on genuine Borg Warner products. I only had positive experiences with them and shared my source of parts based on my experiences.
I had a great experience with them, as did several other FTE'rs. I can count about 5 right off the top of my head. I believe RacinJasonWV had a delay in his shipping or something like that, but cannot be sure. It appears that they went out of business for some reason. I don't know if that is COVID related or if dealing in automotive parts are not for them.
We have identified at least one more reseller of genuine Borg Warner parts at a discounted price, but that information is irrelevant at this point of the conversation.
I realize your question was not directed toward me, but I feel I could offer a bit of insight to you and look forward to hear if Leonard has anything further to add.
EDIT: I just saw this thread has 774 posts at this point... What a great thread full of funnies, learning experiences and 1st experiences!
I had good success with TCS, also some long drawn out ones, but nothing negative. Jerry was simply a drop shipper. I would venture to say he also worked a regular job as well. To me it appears as though his business was victim of a covid altered business economy. His list of companies that he sold products from ran into huge backlogs of shipping and manufacturing. Their staffing was cut, things were delayed or not at all available. It appeared as though being the middleman he took a massive beating and threw in the towel. It is a shame.
I'd go back to BW and tell them they are out of business and they should warranty the turbo. Push it, and let them know you are on here. Sometimes that works.

I don't know that using the "I am on FTE" social media threat should ever be used. I find that unethical. Of course maybe you meant it as a "we are part of a communuty that works together to make old trucks great again, and we need your help" thing :-)
Pushing borg to honer warrentee is a very reasonable thing to do.
I've now taken the time to review this thread since the reported catastrophe following the initial Turbonator install, and have not found where Ford Truck Noob actually identified the vendor from where the replacement Borg Warner turbo was ordered from.
Several teasers, a prank, and a mention of getting an off the menu quote from Late Model Performance, but in this thread at least, it is unclear where the S372 was purchased from, and since the photo of the new turbo in the shipping box displayed a "Made In USA" rivet tag, I thought other members who are not in the know might be interested in where to obtain such a turbo, while avoiding the flood of Chineseum that has infiltrated the offerings of domestic vendors.
@Y2KW57 I'm sure Leonard will be along shortly....but seeing his truck was down for quite a while...he's got some D-Bag driving to make up . In fact he has to come get the stuff I made for him.

My apologies to you and TCS Auto. My laziness prompted me to truncate TCS Automotive to TCS Auto without realizing I was slandering another company. I bought a Borg Warner S300SX-E Super-Core with the 66.11mm inducer, P/N 13009097049 from TCS Automotive. I have been deliberately coy about where the replacement came from This will be revealed later in this post.

So you're saying it's your fault?

That he probably is. I just wish he'd at least tell me which distributor he bought it from so I can go back up through the food chain.

Yeah I don't know if threatening BW is a great idea. They have actually been very polite to me. It's just that they have a process and right now the process is getting stymied by a lack of response from Jerry. Furthermore, BW might introduce purchase screening questions that sound less like "Do you plan to export this technology to China?" and more like "Are you a member of FTE?" to weed out undesirables if I do that.

Okay, I purchased the replacement Borg Warner S300SX-E Super-Core with the 72.00mm inducer, P/N 13009095091 from Midwest Turbo Center (MTC). As Sous pointed out, there has been another economical source of these Super-Cores identified but MTC is not it. This is because I had them do a semi-custom ball-bearing conversion of the CHRA. The reason for the ball-bearing conversion is my research has indicated that this conversion can withstand surge and overspeed conditions (suspected contributors to the failure of my previous BW product) better. It also doesn't hurt the boost response of the turbo.

Actually, with the snow today I engaged in some d-bag welding. Some idiot managed to slide off the residential road that runs behind my house. All 3 emergency services (Fire, Police, EMS) were in attendance. It was like Christmas again with the snow and lights.
