GM is pulling a fast one with there new 2020 GM Allison 10speed transmission is not really a Allison ... They own the rights to the name and that 10 speed is a GM Transmission ... They are actually putting the 6 speed Allison 1000 thats in the current trucks in there new 4500 and 5500 .
Talk about pulling a fast one .
I hope Fords new 10 speed is based off there current 6 speed which is a really good transmission .
I read somewhere that GMs 10-speed is actually Fords with different hardware running it. They partnered up on it or something. Can't remember where I read it, possibly one of my fleet magazines

Ford and GM partnered with the light duty 10 speed transmission. Ford parted ways and developed their own Heavy Duty 10 speed transmission.
how about a CP4 bypass kit included so that metal particles from fuel pump roller bearing wear does not blow the injectors. Heck, I would even pay for it if only ford would not deny warranty claims on something that would save ford money.
The truck computer does the math based on your speed and the other vehicle's speed and applies enough brake to prevent you from hitting the car. It can be manually disabled in the computer screens. It can be disabled by any input the driver does to the accelerator.
New truck front end is something I would not buy. Thank god I bought when I did. The base model looks like a combination of old F250s, the current F150, and a Ram's pig nose front end. The sport actually looks to be the general shape of the Titan's "T". Just not a fan. Really liked the old 2016 cross bars too. Maybe their will be a giant plastic egg crate grill version like the GMC.
on the light duty...the 10speed torqshift is 1000% ford
At the 2020 Super Duty reveal Media Day, Ford's lead person for the new 10 speed stated that "the basic architecture and power flow are the same as the F-150" (meaning the transmission co-designed with GM), but that everything is "beefier" on the new Super Duty version, in recognition of the duty cycle and engines that it would be mated to.

From my understanding after viewing and reading about the transmissions, Ford took the lead for the light duty 10 speed transmission and GM took the lead for the 8 speed. They did not partner for the Super/Heavy duty 10 speed transmission. Ford build their own 10 Speed TorqShift. GM and Allison partnered to create the Allison 10 speed transmission.

Allison had nothing to do with this series of transmissions besides "certifying" the trans before they put their name on it.
Just like the 6r80/6r140, the 10's are the same basic architecture with the expected heavier parts for the HD's. Extremely doubtful that Ford and GM would spend all the years and dollars they did, then abandon all that work to develop radically different trans for their respective HD line.
Also, GM took the lead on a 9 speed trans that Ford decided not to use. GM developed their 8 speed on their own and are now facing multiple class-action lawsuits over it's repeated failings.

Yup, yup... I stand corrected. It was the 9 speed. Thanks. 😉
