that reminds me i think the older 5.0s were actually 4.9 not 5.0l. the coyote is 5.0
whats wrong with your 5.0?
i was explaining to someone yesterday ford is coming out with a new 7.3 gasser and they kept thinking diesel
That is true, they were 4,942cc. They only needed 8cc to benefit from true rounding (less than half a cubic inch), but it's not as bad as going from 7,298cc and calling it a 7.5. Mercedes had a 6.2 V8, which they called a 6.3 because they thought it sounded better.
Oil burner. Undergoing the consumption test now. Hopefully an engine replacement.
about every audi vw is an oil burner. friend traded in her toyota because of oil consumption. my acura is an oil burner. went for an oil consumption test but long story short the dealer messed it up and now its out of warranty.
i wouldnt consider an engine that burns oil a pos. looks like something changed in 2018? DI?

I would... when it burns 2 to 2-1/2 quarts in 3,500-4,000 miles. Ford issued a TSB. In over 2 dozen high-mileage trucks, I’ve never added an ounce of oil to any. At least they never showed loss or use in 3,500 to 5,000 mile oil change intervals. Now, a quart in 5,000? Okay, but when I’m experiencing that in under 3,000, I’ll pass on this 5.0L.
I hope Ford didnt pull a boner again and not include sensors in the front bumper like they did with 17-19. What a stupid easy thing for them not to include is beyond me. Maybe that was their way of trying to force the upgrade to the front camera system.
I just sold my beloved 2012 F-350 PSD, private party. Truck cost me $14,000 to drive for 6 years (not counting operating costs/maintenance, of course)
ALMOST perfect for the 80,000 miles.
1 window regulator, back up camera under extended warranty and $800 in sensors that I actually had to show the dealer there were maybe 3 warranties to cover them....of course my premium care with the $50 deductible covered it....instead of the $0 factory/federal warranties..lol!!
I sold it anticipating ordering the exact same truck equipment wise in a '19.
But now Ford throws a wrench into my plans with not only the 10 speed, but the 7.3 gasser which just might bring me back to spark plugs.
Again, I LOVED the 6.7.....however, the near $80 oil changes and dumping the 3+ gallons of black gold, fuel filters every 15k, adding **** at sometimes inconvenient times...(they have a DEF gauge now; yes??) was just part of the trade off to have nearly double the torque over the gasser.
If the 7.3L is anywhere in the ballpark performance wise.....I was always an advocate for the V10 over the 7.3 PSD; never felt the 100 pound feet of torque was worth the $$$....
I guess I'll wait an extra year or so and let it all unfold.
In the meantime, it's back to tooling around in the '95 TOY T-100.....the thing that will not die!!

thank you for bringing that up. Totally agree. That was my biggest disappointment when I came from an ltz duramax. I loved the front sensors . It seems to me it’s a major safety issue- or lack thereof?
Now I have to push the camera button so I can see what’s In front everytime I’m parking or in a right spot.
