If your intake is not seated Squarely enough the exhaust cross over port will start sucking oil from the lifter valley
which will exit smoke in the one exhaust pipe an the neatest cylinder will have higher compression reading due the oil sealing the rings more then it will start fouling the spark plug.

Although my truck has the IL300 Six, I trust everything that Orich has ever advised me, and he knows both the V-8's and Sixes.. On my old head bolts, I used only copper based never-seize... and have no leaks, other than my ps lines....

Thanks Orich! I have the header back on the passenger side and torqued. One step closer...
A good rule of thumb having headers is checking the bolts Torque at every oil change.
Along with the closed front axle u-joint at each axle end oil by removing pipe plug at the rear side of housing.
As much work as you've done on the Fe block is enough to make a man wonder why Ford designed the engine block the way they did.
It's a great pain in the azz the way the head share half the intake manifold an the screwed up way the oil pump drive shaft was a hex that makes stabbing dizzy to # 1 another chore.
Some may say they like it just the way it is..
But I've hated it ever since the 332 came out well!

Driving the truck some. The FE 390 is running well. The electronic fuel pump is a bit loud. Is it true I can drop a 460 engine in that will bolt up and drop in without issues? Has anyone done a 460 transplant? Does that engine offer way more than the 390?
460 shares the 429, 351m 400 bell housing. 390 doesn't.
Even at that, I'm sure there would be "issues" like exhaust, cooling etc that would need to be worked out.

Remember it's take about 1500 miles for a newly rebuild to loosen up good to start getting better gas mileage.
Plus you'll notice it's got more power, Need a little more power rejet maybe retune it.
Early 460& 429 had the power or a 428 fe but here on the west coast it gas prices is the fun killer...
