Thanks Scott and I do appreciate your comments and input always!

I've always lived the life of danger, taken a few chances, like this gasket

and probably why it leaked for sure

compared to the real Ford gasket

I've been know to frequent smokey bars (before I quit smoking), drink one to many (occasionally still do), tell bad jokes, hang out with old submarine buddies and drive a bad 6.0 diesel (broken mostly) truck! Anybody that comes through my town is welcome to come by, we'll pull a wrench or a beer and i mean that.

But then again, I really don't want to grow up, that would be no fun! You should see the tattoo I got for my 50th birthday... Oh buddy!

Randy: If I'm ever out your way we will have to tilt a few and try to get Jack over as well.

I'd take the tattoo over the colonoscopy I got for turning 60...

Thanks for posting the gasket picts -- big difference there for-sure... Good luck with that "dangerous" Wolfs Head too -- I'd take it back and pay the extra $2 per bottle x9 myself -- ask Sean what a tranny costs ok, that's it from me for friendly nudging, but if you come back talking about a shifting problem or slipping clutches... Not really, I'll still feel for your pain...

Hey, who am I to talk: I'm blending my own semi-synthetic in a $12K engine!

I'm never any fun.

I'm glad you brought up the home brew oil 'cause I was thinking to myself about the irony when you brought up Wolfie.

To answer that $2700 + $1000 + $1100 = $4800 - $1000 = $3800
give or take a few $100. $1000 was the core that you get back.

My failure was do to a sun gear detaching from the clutch basket.
Cheap spin welds. They should of been TIG welded to start with.

colonoscopy I got for turning 60...

I got one of them... didn't like that either. Told Guido, the Doctor's helper (he had big arms and hands) that I didn't want to remember anything and that if he winked at me when I left, I'd be back and he wouldn't remember a thing... ever!

I'm in San Diego often... you close to there? I'll show you my tattoo over a beer and we can talk about colonoscopy's.....

It's about 600 miles, but there's no way around the LA traffic, so the drive is the pits. Sister-in-law and family are in SD, but we usually fly if we go see them...

My Dr. was behind me, one cute nurse and one not-cute (both Female) in there too, all I cared about was them keeping the drugs flowing , but I could have sworn the Dr. blew me a kiss on the way out

At least now you know what a trans cost...

Jack: been home brewin' the oil for years after a good friend, Chemical Physicist and head of our Lubricant Additives team, got me started down the rabbit trail in the early '90s...

I wonder if the OP has ever come back or if he just shook his head and left FTE. Seemed like a simple enough question...

Well this is what I have sitting on the shelf in a box. I opened it to see that
that crap gasket was there or not. It's not. Also thought I would post the
part numbers for everyone.

If I go pick up some fluid I may do the install this weekend if the rain stops.
And while I am at that I will install the new drag link I just had come in today.

Oh what fun steering and transmission work.

So Sean, the Pan Assembly # now gets you both the pan and the filter? Because that is the same number I ordered back in '13 and I just got a pan...

Mercon LV supersedes Mercon SP which superseded Mercon V
It says it's engineered to meet.... Mercon LV

ELC Rotella says its "Suitable against EC-1 Caterpillar"... that doesn't say it meets as to it's licensed or verified/tested. It would refer to manufactured to meet the spec.

Read carefully the bottle grasshopper.

Same here, just a pan. The filter is separately in it's own bag and part number.
I imagine Sean has them stored together for ease of locating them in his garage's categorized filing system.

MERCON LV does NOT supersede MERCON V. MERCON LV will destroy a transmission that requires MERCON V.

^^^ Someone knows about my filing system.
Toss things that go together in the same box when you can.

Pan only in the box. The guys at the dealership just used the box for shipping.
I posted the part numbers for the pan and the filter.
