Dad's Engine
The other day Shaun was at the salvage and found a pulley from an 84 302 which has both those sheaves the same side. So, he bought it and shipped it to me. (Thanks, Shaun!
- 1984 302 Crank Pulley (D00E-6312-C)
- Rear sheave: 6 5/8"
- Middle sheave: 7 15/16"
- Front sheave: 7 15/16"
- 1981 351M Crank Pulley (D0A?-6312-C3)
- Rear sheave: 6 5/8"
- Middle sheave: 7 15/16"
- Front sheave: 8 7/16"
However, I'm confused about what I see in the catalog re pulleys vs what the pulleys actually say. (I bring this up since if someone is wanting to do this in the future s/he should use the number D00E-6312-C for the pulley and not those shown in the catalog.) Here's the page for the 302 pulley:
The first thing to note is that there is no pulley matching the # of the one from the 84. And, lest you think the 84's pulley has been swapped I should add that the pulley on Ray's 86 302 bears the same part #. Now, I grant you that the difference is only in the suffix, with the catalog showing a B and the pulley showing a C. Also note the catalog shows that the B pulley is a 2-sheave pulley while the C pulley is a 3-sheave. Could it be that A = 1 sheave; B = 2 sheaves; and C = 3 sheaves?
And, another thing to note is the phrase "refer to pulley I.D. chart, Section 60, Page 5", which is highlighted in red. I have two versions of the catalog that I think are from two different sources, and neither has a Page 5 of Section 60.

Ok, now for the 351M pulley. Here's the catalog page for it:
I've highlighted the # that Dad's pulley should be. But, as shown in the pic below, in reality it is D0A?-6312-C3. As you can see the 4th character is not legible. Oddly enough, the pulley on Rusty has the spot-weld at essentially the same point, but I can almost make out the 4th character as an E. Further, Rusty's pulley has the "C3" suffix. I say all of that to say I'm really confused by the parts catalog. But, I am confident that the desired pulley is a D00E-6312-C, regardless of what the catalog says.
And now for the before/after on the pulley Shaun sent as well as a couple of shots of Dad's original pulley.
Here's Dad's original pulley:
And, here are a couple of shots of Dad's original pulley.
I see some photos dated about a month ago on Midwestern's FB page that have full size Ford vans in them. So this could be promising!
I see some bullnose trucks as well!!!
Ford Trucks for Ford Truck Enthusiasts
Oddly enough, those 2 trips were only a couple months apart......
But, having said that, I clearly remember and have a pic somewhere to prove, having seen a weld on a German pill box on the Normandy coast that had surely been done with stainless. Everything else was rusty, but this one weld was as if it had been welded that day. So, I guess I shouldn't think that all material science tech has been developed recently.
- Mid-Western
- No 88-92 E250's or 350's
- Do have two 93's with the 460 - Is that what I want but with the Bill's water pump pulley? What alternator mounting will that have?
- Do have one 87 E350 but that would have v-belts - right?
- East/West
- Probably not pick&pull
- Closed on Sat's
- In fact, closed June 18th - 20th, meaning today, so don't know what they have
- All Parts - Phone (918-587-6655) has been disconnected
- North Yale - Nope, don't have any vans
- American Truck
- Nothing in the 88 - 92 range
- Not open Sat
- Have one pickup in that range
- Have one '95 van w/a 460 - That would be Bill's large pulley, but what about alternator mounting?
- He said "If I get a chance I will look at them"
- Planeview
- Not pick&pull, as they pull everything
- Might have a serpentine setup but will cost ~$150
- Open Sat 8 - 1
