is that just a reflection on the 9:00-12:00 area of the flywheel or are those chatter marks or what?

Edit: now I see what you mean.
It looks like patter on the disc.
My screen is too small to look closely.

That's what a freshly blanchard ground flywheel should look like.

I saw that area as well and don't know what it is. A reflection off the ceiling? Something wrong with the flywheel? I just don't know.

Anyway, I'm going to ask my machine shop if they can grind the flywheel and put a new ring gear on it. Good as new.

Installing ring gear is piece of cake. Heat oven to 500, place ring gear inside and bake for 10 minutes. Use good oven mitts to pull it out and set it in place on the flywheel. Wait a few minutes, and done.

Yup. And I have the oven. But if they do it as part of the resurfacing that's one less thing I have to do. Do you know if Stanley grinds flywheels?

No idea. We send them to the local orielly, they have a good machine, and at least 1 or 2 people that actually know how to use it.......
Stanley is a bit too far for something like this.....

I will check with Ron at this O'Reilly's then. Just want to have it done before they balance everything. Tim says the whole kit comes in here on Friday, including:

Pistons
Rings
Intake
Carb
Bearings
Gaskets
ARP fasteners for heads, mains, and rods - inc one for the oil pump pickup
Oil pump & shaft
Balancer
Roller rockers
Roller lifters
Pushrods

Should be FUN opening those boxes up!

If, by "finished product" you mean the engine, then I would hope to have it done and dyno'd by then. But, if you meant the whole truck I seriously doubt it.
