No, I took your advice in class early, and built a folder where I could find it. The STC's are there,(I generated 5 of them). But the ranges are all back to default. So when I start a new test, I click on an existing STC, all the ranges are back to default. and that goes for all the vehicle ID info I put in each time. I've gotten all the excel and XML in there, it's logging and saving....I'm just not getting my templates saved, so I've to refill it out each time. I'm sure I'm not doing something correctly, I just haven't come to it yet.
I'm sorry I had to drag you through that explanation, but I can't be of help if I'm always assuming things are done right or wrong. Losing track of the file location has been the only cause of this problem to date. Since I haven't seen this before, I'll guess it's a version bug - and AE may need to escort the party pooper to the recycle bin.
Oh Hell no, No offense here. Your the teacher, I'm the Dunce in the corner.(anybody remember that?). I was just conveying that we're thinking along the same lines, and I'm on the right track. That's what the classes are for right? I'm Calling AE in The Morning and pick their Brains about the Key and other things....At the very least I should have gotten an E-Mail from them telling me to **** off, you know? I will bring in my essay for review tomorrow. Thanks Tug
Hey guys...Ive been using AE for about a year now. Im having problems connecting to my 2000 7.3 for about a week now. Before, I could connect to vehicle no problem. Im using J1850PWM and non-obd2 in communication configuration tab. Fuse is good since dongle powers up without being connected to laptop. I can only connect to GEM/Timer and not enhanced powerstrain, but enhanced ford is activated. Also called AE, and rep told me it has to be the vehicle and not the software. Any help would be appreciated.
Does anyone here run Giotto? If so did you have problems playing recorded data? My laptop updated to windows 8.1 without my consent. so after I had to pay $50 to update my subscription to AE and download Giotto version I can't play any of my older files or new files. I've been communicating with AE people via email for a week and a half, and still no answers.
As long as your Files are still tagged as .XML They should still run, make sure your IE (Internet Explorer) is up to date. Unless of course your old version recorded them as a different file. Don't know......If they did, make copies and try to change their file tags.DON'T try that with your originals.
When you upgraded Windows did you upgrade Office Too? Old Office files don't always upgrade with it. Depending on how old your original program was. Can You read your graph files okay(XML).or just the .csv?

Did your computer reboot on its own about that time - implying an automatic Windows update? Did you do any changes whatsoever to AE or your computer about a week ago?

This was released late Nov, and I haven't seen it yet. Can you send me one of the new log files? I'd like to see the data structure. I'll send a PM.
My version is Giotto 13 and It looks like u can save your files as xls, csv,& xml. Unless the files got corrupted in the upgrade, they should open. Especially the csv's. Probably the most basic of files.
The AE people say that older files can not be played back with Giotto. But what about the new files?. Still no answers from them on that.
Thanks Rich, I will send one over.
Rich-I've been lurking long enough to get through this thread twice. Using it as a textbook to learn AE and the truck. I was about to make a B4 repairs data run for comparison when AE quit reading the sensors. You are right, there was a no-notice update to windows that I think caused it. The software is AE ProLine VCI ver 12.something. The book says the VCI connector does not require an activation, it is already activated, so I think maybe it makes a change to the registry. I have deleted and reinstalled the program and will try it again. Unfortunately, I have torn the truck apart, as I have to haul my trailer and tractor back to NM early next week, and will not be able to try it for a day or two. Pulling HPOP to seal leak, new EBP sensor, and new injectors (AE shows #3 bad, putting in 160/30's). Will let you know if the reinstall works.
I haven't fired Stinky up in a while, and my time is tight (I sneak away to the keyboard here and there). I may need to check if my AE is under the influence, and see what can be done if it is.
I looked at the Giotto data (CSV file) with AE version 10 on a Win 7 computer, and everything looks good. Something's going on with your version or with Windows. Without getting my grubby mitts on your keyboard and rootin' around in the Computer Management - I'm at a loss.
About all I can suggest from afar is to move your mouse to the lower-left corner (Win 8.1), right-click, select Computer Management, and open Device Manager. Look for something with an exclamation point.
Once you're in the Computer Manager, I would dissuade you from going on safari in there... there be demons lurking about.
