I was wondering what scan solution you would finally choose. You had quite a long thread going there on your search for a scan tool, and then that thread fizzled without my knowing how the story ended. Now we know.

They don't fizzle - they crystallize. There was a lot of useful information in there, and now it's reference for the future.

Yeah, when it came down to it the best bang for the buck in my case was AE. Mostly because it supports many different makes and models which I can get expansions for any time. Plus I like the logging feature and from the looks of the screenshots it looks identical to the tuning program I use for hondas now.

Speaking of being late for class...I am happy to see this umm well evolved thread show up. I am new owner of an early '99 7.3 F-250 and heard about AE on my fuel mileage thread. I looked at the website for the stuff and couldn't figure out exactly what I need to get. There seems to be a basic and preliminary bundle and an extra one specific to the unit. What do I need to buy to properly analyze my truck?
Thanks for the help,
Mark

Try to get the license to work. It usually takes me an email to AE to get it to work after an update. And they don't work on weekends, so plan ahead if you plan on using it on your days off.

Is that the only bundle that one needs or is there another gazillion dollar enhancement, addition, last piece of the puzzle part that is necessary for the Powerstroke? I always get tired of going to dealer and merely them hooking up their machine literally costs like 160 bucks. Would pay for itself fast I would think. Too bad this probably would not fix my current issue or I would have already bought it!!!
