Haha! I read about your sensor adventure. Hear you have a bunch of spares laying around, LOL.
EBP cleaning? Got a link?
I really gotta finish the tongue and groove upstairs so I can have my garage back and use the topside creeper. There's a whole new world of goodies at the back of the engine compartment I just can't reach
By comparing the three at KOEO on a cold engine you can compare the MAP & EBP sensors to the Baro sensor in the PCM. At 1200ft altitude your PSI value is around 14 psi (on a standard day 29.92 in at sea level and at 59 degrees F), but online Blairsville, PA showed at @ 1100 feet. With the KOEO on a cold engine there should be no or minimal temperature variation. So you compare all 3 and they should be within .2 - .4 PSI of each other. The EBP sensor is usually the bugger that is off. It tends to get clogged over time.........
You are at @ 13.9-14 psi at your altitude. There is a voltage conversion formula somewhere on this site for the Baro voltage conversion since the newer versions of AE don't include Baro PSI in there PID's.
Your EBP sensor is not off as much as I posted above. Reading a little high .4 or .5 psi
So you think I am okay without the cleaning for a bit?
I'll add it to my list for the girls. I am teaching my daughter and niece as we go and have them wrenching with me. They pretty much installed the AIS while *I* was the helper (and battery lifter dude).
There is so much room under the hood, it's a nice vehicle to learn and teach on. My niece is taking AutoTech in high school, doesn't get to work with diesels, tools like AE, TorquePro, etc.
It was like Christmas when they were opening the boxes with the AIS, RiffRaff FRx, HPx, fuel pressure sensor adapters, OEM fuel filter and cap, and the Auber Instruments Dual PID with EGT and Fuel Pressure senders!
My daughter was the one operating the computer for the AE run. Loved it!
So know that you guys aren't just educating me, it's going right away to the next generation. We ALL appreciate it!
Upon closer scrutiny of the data, I have to ask a couple of things: I think you're getting 16 PSI boost, but I need to see a KOEO with MAP, BARO, and EBP first. I'd also like a good look at that EBP for another reason - the pressure differential at WOT. I need to check my old logs, but that 20 PSI differential at WOT looks a little steep to me. .....................
I see what you are getting at. some of the EBP sensor readings are in the higher 40's during the WOT run. In two other vehicles logs (stock) I looked at they were low 30's or high 20's. Could just be a EBP sensor issue - since it's a stock tune or someone stuffed some potatoes in the exhaust........
I think I'd like to explore the EBP thing before trying anything fancy. If you have an unusual EBP/MAP ratio, the red line mod might create issues.
Makes sense
Suspension and Transmission cooler this week. Then Hutch/Harpoon. Then Fuel bowl clean and rebuild...
That's when I'll add the fuel pressure sensor. It may be wise to hang on until I get that sensor on and verify proper fuel pressure. Had a couple of starting issues, still on the hot list.
I can't get the 90* adapter on the output port with the drain housing on the bowl, so it will wait for the rebuild
But the EBP sensor and tube cleaning doesn't look bad. Likely can do it in between those things, so it should all be done soon.
I will test whatever you want. But I am patient, too. Wise advice to wait until the other stuff is cleared up. I appreciate the caution you guys show with other people's vehicles!
First off, I would like to say thank you to the teacher for taking his time to help us newbies to AE. I just got mine on Friday before Easter.
I have a file of recorded 7.3 dataIi would like an opinion on, but I don't see the paperclip for attaching it. If Sir Tugly would be so kind as to send me a PM with his email address, I will send it.
I see the problem as to why I can't attach anything........ been a reading member since 2012, but that previous post was my first one here.
I'm suprised that I had no problem remembering my password when it asked.
I have a really recent version of AE. Ordered it direct from Mesa, AZ about the first of this month. It doesn't appear to have the Option to Save a session. I have the choices for Connect, Disconnect, Communications Configuration, and Changing System. Some are available, and some are Grayed Out. There is NO choice for Save Session. Is there some place I need to set this up? or have they removed it in the new Giotto?
The last word I got (leaning over the fence), is they "overlooked" this function - and it will be resolved as soon as the programmer is done visiting Italy for some Gelato. Everybody with Giotto is a bit unhappy about the absence of this important function, it will get resolved... I suspect.
I wonder if since you have the latest version, if it's possible to download a legacy version for free. I can tell you version 10 is the most stable version I'm aware of, but it does not work on Windows 8. I am unsure if legacy versions will work with the new OBDII adapter.
