If you call or e-mail support they will send you a link to a previous version......ExPACamper noticed this problem as well.

To add to the above, the version that came with my AE this month was v13.0.1, which is very buggy. The updated version (tech email) is 13.1.0, much more stable, but still missing the save session option.

You can still log data and play it back, but you get the privilege of redefining your dataset every time you open it, LOL.

Take it with a grain of salt, but I asked Bill at AE that very question, and he said they will send you the last version,(10,11,12 etc.)you were registered for free, and the updates. Up to next version. after that, it's considered a subscription update.....But will The newer versions work with your older Dongle? I didn't think to ask that. But I would think it should, most software is legacy compatible. So to move up....a $50.00 Upgrade??? Maybe. wouldn't hurt to call and ask.

I'm thinking more of a retrograde for others, if they don't use AE for very new vehicles. My version 10 was purchased in 2011, and my newest vehicle is 2007. It does everything I want it to very reliably, but I can't put it on my newest Win 8.1 computer. I had a notification long ago that I could update to version 11, but I saw people needing to adjust scale values to get the FIPW and speed correct... and I thought "Naaww."

I have v13.1.0 which is still so buggy it needs more than 2 cans of Raid applied! I talked to Bill and he put me in touch with Jay who is supposed to be the Software Engineer. I won't go into the details of that conversation for now, but so far I am disappointed with my purchase.

Nothing funny about that!!! Even my cheap scanner will automatically remember the last vehicle it was attached to, and give me the choice of using it or selecting a new one. Considering that the majority of the time, a scan tool will be connected to the same vehicle multiple times before moving to a different one, why isn't 'Last Vehicle' the default choice?

I guess I will need to see if I can make the new hardware work with old software.

I can get PM's now, but still don't seem to be able to add attachments.

Other than Session save, I haven't noticed all that many Bugs.....It never saved the Last vehicle, You had to save your setups before you closed the software down.I personally wouldn't want AE sending Audi Data into My PCM on startup.Might not be pretty. AE is Bi directional to the PCM A scanner is not....at least not the Cheap ones...

It doesn't automatically make the connection to the previous vehicle, it just gives you the choice to select the previous vehicle, or a different one. I find that to be a real time saver when connecting and disconnecting multiple times during a troubleshooting session.

That's why it asks you to set up the new vehicle's profile, They all have different protocols, engine data, etc. Then you have no data collisions. And your only working on one vehicle at a time anyway. I agree with you, It would be convienient, if it stored the Vehicle Data for mutiple hookups. But most mechanics are leaving it hooked up and running thruout the Testing phase so they don't have to hook and unhook Multiple times. I'm just not sure you could call that a Bug.... Pulling Features, Graph Windows not working , Those are Bugs!

The key should be off when connecting or disconnecting sensors, plug connections, etc. It does no good to leave AE running once the key is off. You will still have to go through the entire 'login' process to get reconnected. It would be so much easier if you could just reconnect to the last vehicle again.
All it would have to do is say, " Last connection was to XYZ vehicle, use again or select new?' No data collisions, no problems with bi-directional inputs to a wrong vehicle. Just faster, easier connections.

Uhh?? I have left AE running and logging when I stop for fuel, snacks, and whatever else one does in a convenience store, then come back out, crank the key, and the data picks right up again. I can look at the log file for a long trip and see the potty breaks.

If I turn the key off on the vehicle, AE loses the connection. I have to do the full vehicle 'login' again to get a connection. Is that because I don't have the 'Save Session' option? That is why I am griping about having to keep re-entering the vehicle info time after time.

Then I have to go back in, and select each of the items that I want to record. If the plug jiggles, I get to do it ALL again!

I'd be beating on their email inbox and phone on that one. This is like what happened with Windows 7: They had a good thing going, then touch screens became the dominant input method and everybody is "grinding gears", convulsing and repeatedly missing the target.

Torque pro is much more work to initially set up the vehicle and PIDs, but once it's set...

I use Torque Pro for daily monitoring/logging and AE strictly for troubleshooting and doing "checkups".

va-sawyer, call or e-mail them back and try a previous software version like 10.* or one that will work with your adapter - they will give you the link to a previous version to download. I mostly run version 5.3 and 8 but I'm not sure if these are compatible with the newer OBD adapters.

If Your Plugged in and running, and you stop somewhere and turn off the key......You just hit Connect again it starts back up. You don't have to log back in. At least I haven't had to.
I just started and stopped X4 and It's been running. As long as You don't pull the adapter. I think your doing something out of sequence.

I have the new version as well got it last month to run on a Microsoft Surface Pro 3. I have no issues turning the vehicle off and back on. It does not need to reconnect.
