Playing with AE in the parking lot at work, I did three key-on sessions and two engine starts. The engine was cool so the glow plugs cycled as they should. I was not able to start the engine a third time. My batts must be shot, in spite of what Les Schwab's tester said. I dont trust those testers that report cca, but don't actually put a load on the battery. Going to Costco today for some Kirkland (johnson controls) units.
Monitored volts on the way home and it climbed to 14.0 so I think the alt is good.
Wow I need to look at mine again. IIRC my ebp was about 3 psi higher at KOEO. and I tow an enclosed all the time. What would be the symptoms of that 3psi diffrence again??

I've tried looking into this and I haven't found many good answers (yet). I'm pretty sure it plays a role in shifting, because the tune needs to know the load on the truck. I've read from several sources where they all say it will whack MPG. I took a MPG hit and had some soot on the rear fender when my EBP read 3 PSI high KOEO. Others have swapped theirs out, but have not yet posted their results from the swap. Consider this: The EBP absolute in my driveway is about 14.2 PSI. Driving 65 MPH on the flat with no wind and CC active reads about 19-20 PSI. The difference between engine off and cruising is 5 or 6 PSI... so 3 is not insignificant.
Also... nothing says it will read 3 PSI high across the range. It might read 20% high all the way up.
Wow that would make a lot of sense, my MPG has been dropping a little bit along for the last couple years and lately it has seemed to shift diffrent than it did, not quite as noticable without the trailer. Seems like it wants to down shift a lot more than it used to.
Thanks again Rich. Looks like I know what my next project is. (After I get this 10k sent off to uncle same on monday that is). Think I will go with that driven diesel HPOP cover and ebp relocater bracket.
Very true, both come from Johnson Controls, and I would have stuck with Les Schwab, but they would not transfer the warranty on the batts from the original owner, so I went with the better price at Costco.
Got the new EBP sensor installed. The numbers are back where they should be. Not feeling a difference yet, but ready for towing this weekend.
Question: Is there a KOEO test that checks relays, sensors and such and reports back? All I've done so far is just pull up nine meters on the Live Data Meter tab. I've set up a Cyl rot velocity session and a "basic" session with nine meters like the ones above.
What do the colors mean? Most are green, but some meters come up yellow and red.

Look up. You are on the "Live Data Meter" tab. You want the "Test Onboard System" tab.
Colors: Great question. From the Scan Tool User Guide that came with the software:
Meters will report the current status of the sensor through color cues. If the sensor is functioning at 80 - 90% of its capacity, the meter will change its color to yellow. If the sensor is between 90 - 100%, the meter will change to red. Below 80%, the meter will dis-play in green.
"Capacity" - This is another word for "Maximum"... determined by the Max Value you set here (in relation to the Min Value):
Now... to play with it, let's say you want the IPR to turn yellow at 30%. You can set the Max to 38% and the IPR will turn yellow at about 30% (getting on the throttle) and red at about 34 %, but graphing gets a little more involved if you want to see an IPR value graphed over 38% during playback (the value gets recorded even if it's over Max... I think).
Does anyone else experience problems with vehicle speed reading with ae?
Shows just fine on the dash... but i cant get a reading with ae?
I know of about 3 or 4 others. There are some who get a decimal slipped on the Fuel Injector Pulse Width... but one turned out to be a bad ground on the IDM.

Wellllllll,, either I did NOT recall correctly or it has gotten worse. Guess I definetly know what I need to be looking for. I will try to attach a pic of my KOEO EBP< MAP<BAP. I can only get a link to my pics in my post. How do I get the actual picture to appear????
Wierd I cant see the rest of my post and I even tried to edit it. It is there when I hit the edit button but not when I hit the save. The rest of it is >BAP and how do I get an actual pic in my post instead of a link to a pic???
thanks

Everybody has to link to a pic. Many people have something like Photobucket... where I use the forum Albums feature and link to everything in my album. You can attach a picture by using the paperclip button next to the smiley button above your reply window... but it can get lost in a pile of attachments if you ever want to use it again.
