I have every Ford Truck Parts Catalog from 1928 thru 2001, so I can decode all the VIN info, codes from the Rating/Warranty Plates and the Certification Label first used in 1981.
If you need parts, obsolete or not, I can look up the numbers, then search for them on two online websites to see if anyone has them. Then will post the part numbers, sources that have them.
If the parts are still available, I will list the MSRP and the FTE member discount price offered by sponsor PARTSGUYED.COM (Ed Olson, parts manager of Horizon Ford in Seattle WA).
I've been doing this jazz on FTE since 11/04/2006. And, btw: One of the parts locator sites is only accessible to FoMoCo Dealers.

(I'm starting to realize just how much time Mr. ND spends on these things...Thank you ND!)
Due to some computer issues, Numberdummy is off line at this time. We are hoping for a triumphant return. Thanks for your patience, and thanks to all others providing answers here as well.
It's still not working correctly, but....so far so good.
I have a 1955 F-900 with a 317 C.I.D. engine. The number on the (bad) crankshaft is EAD 6303- C
I found a crank for sale with the number EAM 6303-A
Does anybody have any idea if it will fit? The seller says that it fits '52---'54
The number on the crankshaft is the ID engineering number, it is not the part number.
B5Q-6303-D .. Crankshaft = 1952/55 279/317 Lincoln derived Y blocks.
This could be the replacing part number for EAM-6303-A .. It's the only crankshaft listed for 1952/55 279/317 in the 1948/56 Ford truck parts catalog printed in 1964.
I have a question on a dizzy and i know this is not the right place to ask but p/ms didn't work. I transplanted an 89 5.0 ho into an 87 f150 and over the course of 3 years my memory if a little foggy and i want to be sure that I'm putting the right distributor back in part # on the tag is E7AE-12A332-BA w/mod then i believe a date code of 89 f 30 and below that E6AE-12127-DA In my opinion, from everything I've read that you have posted you are a gold mine of info and a valuable asset to this forum. If you can help I would be in your debt. Thank you Brian W.
P/M's working, computer hasn't been.
You'll have to go to a Ford dealer to verify these dizzy ID numbers, I cannot find a reference.
I just joined this site and came across your post. I just purchased a 1940 COE which has been previously restored. It has a 6 digit VIN which was issued by the state of Colorado. Do you perhaps have any suggestions on tracking down the original VIN # ? I would like to have this as original and correct as possible, I'm assuming the original VIN tag was missing or illegible, ( I haven't had it transported home yet ) I'll look forward to your advise in the future.
Thanks,
Howard
There were no VIN's back then. Ford vehicles were registered by their engine number that was also stamped on the hogshead.
When people swapped in used engines, the numbers no longer matched.
Usually when there's a state issued VIN, the vehicle is either a theft recovery or has been issued a salvage title.
Hi,
Are the VIN Tag and The Warranty tag the same thing on a 1978 F700 ?
And if this tag is missing are the axle ratings, transmission model and differential model information retrievable some other way?
The only VIN information I have is from the title.
I am currently looking for the air intake system from a '74 F750 (or similar, like the pic below) from the hood scoop to the carb to install on my truck. When I explain it to the Salvage yard employees, they look at me funny. Can I get a drawing of this style intake to better help me get what I'm looking for?
This is what I'm looking to do. Got the idea from pauly3wood, a fellow FTE member.
Thanks again Bill.
With regard to your "maybe" response to my second question, what are the options/process?
I looked for tags on both transmission and rear axle and didn't find any. The rear axle is an Eaton (stamped in housing casting )

What engine does it (or did it) have? 460's were not installed in anything larger than a F350.
