Got some work done this morning. We got all the wood bows cut and fitted in place. Tomorrow they come out again for priming and painting. Dome light looks good!! Not real exciting stuff but progress.
A little more progress ... Put the second coat of sanding sealer on the wood bows. The bows and drivers door panel will be painted tomorrow. Also trying to get the wiring finished. I still am looking for a bezel for my speedo. I will be putting in some after market gauges for temp and oil pressure.
Just kiddin Keith. Well kind of. Your truck is your truck and ya can build it anyway ya like. And I for one am so glad that ya have stayed so close to what she was back in the day. And yes I also would upgrade things like the gauges. It's like buying insurance, Ya just have to have it. There is to much invested not to know what the engine is doing.
I really don't want to use the aftermarket stuff but it will be so much easier. I not sure how the temperature on these old trucks were monitored. With each engine bank having its own water pump did they just monitor one side or were there dual sending units to one gauge? I have too much invested in the original engine to risk not keeping an eye on it. I don't think I will have a problem. I believe these engines run hot anyway but I really haven't driven it more than 10 miles in the 5 yrs + I have owned it. That will be changing soon!
The flat 8's had a sending unit on each head. At least the ones I had did. But if I remember right they were not the same. As they both did not do the same thing. like one was for the temp of the engine and the other was made to just show full hot temp if over a set temp or something like that. The Gurus can better tell us what it was I am sure. IDK as it's been a long time. I need a little flatty to play with again. The 46 an 47 Fire wagons I have been helping on are on hold right now and I can't get to them.
I think adding th eaftermarket gauges would be a prudent move. Especially if you can keep the original ones working as well, it never hurts to have confirmation of what a guage is telling you.

Thanks Bobby, That what I was trying to say, I think. It's all good.
I am having a not so good day. Damn Doctors anyway.
Thanks bobby. Keith is gonna have a good day when he drives the wagon out the first time with nothing more to do to it. I just hope he gets to do this before the world ends next month.
