Keith,
Do you have access to a lathe? I'd turn a stepped spacer ring out of aluminum that would center the outside diameter of the lens in the back plate and fit over the lip around the edge of the lens. Then use the front bezel to hold the ring and lens in place. Would that work?

I like your idea but I don't have a lathe. My fabricators could make something like you described.

Worked on the seats today. We set them all in place and checked the fit. The officer’s seat which has the gas tank, was put in first because we had to make sure the pre-cut hole in the floor for tank lined up. We had intended to put the seats back to back but since the driver’s seat was too close to the steering wheel, we had to space the rear seat back 3 inches. Tomorrow we will get the seats permanently mounted. We also got the siren & bell guide tubes in. The siren tube wasn’t an issue to install. The bell guide tube went in a lot easier than we thought it would. We started at the grill and ran the tube through an existing hole we found in the radiator support. Tomorrow we will make the necessary cuts and flare the end. We will also attach the tube to the inner fenders. I was excited to finally get the seats in … it looked good!!

Bobby and Rich, I want to take her for a test drive but I still have the brake issue. I probably could have been driving her for a while now …. She is tagged and registered. At this point, I am just going to wait a little while longer to take her for a spin!!

Gerald and I got a lot of work done today. The seats are permanently in now. The gas tank is in and hooked up. We got the bell tube flared and the fabrication shop called and said my middle bins were done. They did a great job as usual. We know have prep, paint and install them.The bins have hinged doors at the top and were basically big toolboxes. This was another of the big projects left to do. The only other big job is the lettering and striping. I also called the chrome shop to see if the bell bracket was finished. I dropped it off 7 weeks ago to have them re-do it. The bracket had some pitting and I wasn’t satisfied with how it looked. When I dropped it off 7 weeks ago I went over the issues I had with it. I told the owner the bracket and bell were the show pieces of the front of the truck and I wanted them perfect. He said he would have the guys buff out the pits but there was a chance the pits may get bigger and the bracket may have to go back to the fabrication shop to fill in the pits. Well, I was handed the bracket and the same pits were there. They didn’t do anything except re-chrome it. I asked why didn’t they call me to come pick it up to fix the pits and I was told they didn’t have my phone number. Why didn’t they look up some of the old order tickets?? So now Its back to the fabrication shop. You can see the pitts in the photo.

The boys came out and were excited to see the seats in!!

Those are some great pics. I'll bet the boys are getting pretty anxious. I'm envious of them, they will eventually get a rid and be able to clang the bell.....LOL

Thats a major bummer that you are having such a fiasco with the chrome shop. I just can't believe they couldnt find your phone #. Thats pretty pitiful customer service. Unfortunately you are kind of stuck with them.....are they going to make it right?

The pinstriping and lettering will be a major step. It will be pretty exciting to see it done

Your Chrome shop sucks Keith. I hope they didn't charge you for this. If so I would bitch real LOUD. But they are prolly the only game in town for you. The worst of it is after the machine shop gets it right than ya still got to have it re-chromed again. I am counting at least 3 times to that shop. So I would insist the next time is free or take it to another town and get it done.

The chrome shop will make it right. I just need to have strip the pitted areas with muriatic acid and drop it back off at the metal shop.

I am going to order the letters and striping. The fender wheel well areas are going to be a pain to stripe. You cant bend the tape, it has to be cut in pieces.

Rich, They are not charging for the re-chrome jobs. It just sucks I've been waiting 7 weeks and now this. I know it will be a few weeks more. And no there are other chrome shops ... this one was highly recommended to me.
