I just ordered one from O'Reillys online. I used the part number off the package in the pic above. The part number was the same on their site so I hope I get it right.

The new and old style have the same part number. Hope you get the old style.
I just stopped by my local O'Reilly's (two of them actually) and both had the new style that I already have installed on my truck. Oh well, I guess I will live with it unless the guy that spoke to DeeZee provides contact information. I have emailed DeeZee and filled out the web form without a single reply.
I too dropped by another O'reilly today, both showed the same part number in stock, however they were both the new style. Guess I just got lucky with mine.
Just a thought. If you keep in mind that the purpose of the system is to allow the gate to drop hands free without damaging the cable supports, even the "fast" cylinder does well enough. It does drop faster but clearly is not fast enough to put any stresses on the cables or their attachment mounts. So, what I'm saying is they work just fine. They just aren't as cool as the slow movers...

I agree. I think mine gets slower the more I use it. Anything beats just dropping the gate.
It's real easy to tell the new from old while still in the package. Old is a fatter shorter cylinder with a loop on 1 end. That is the one you want.
And the reason you want that one is not just that it lowers the gate better. Several of us have found there to be interference with the tailgate "wedge" the part that is supposed to hit the bumper, now will hit this longer cylinder and may only work for a short time before breaking.
I was told by DeeZee that Oreilly's has mixed stock, and they are the only ones that may have any of the old ones, so ordering online will be hit or miss.
I called Stabilus and spoke to a design engineer. Jim was very informative. He informed me that they had consolidated applications for Superduty and F150's so that they are packaging the same kit for both applications. I informed him of the problems we are having and he told me he would do his best to bring back the old piston packaged for Superduty's only.
That doesn't make sense. I thought the F-150's had a counter sprung tailgate to help with the lift???
