How does not haveing the rubber stop affect the tailgate? Can't move the stop?
Yeah I took the rubber stop off... You just remove the tail light and the nuts are there. But doesn't make sense why mine is hitting and others are not.

Can you post a pic? Lots of smart guys on here. Maybe the one you got isn't the same as others. Could it be upside down? Just thinking out loud. Haven't seen one myself. Don't kno how they look.

OK here you go.. It's an Dee Zee Easy Down model. Shock strut is pointng the right according to the instructions. Think it would hit no matter which side was up.... Sent these photo's to their customer service yesterday. Have not heard back yet......

you obviously have the wrong p/n for your truck, or it is installed incorrectly. on mine, the top of the strut is mounted alongside the down cable that holds the tailgate in the down position !!!

You have the wrong one. The shock mount should look like this:
So does that mount move the top of the shock out away from the side of the truck, and that is how it clears the rubber stop? I have called the company twice and they have their customer service looking into it. This is bull.. I will send them this photo... thanks

this is exactly how mine mounts. it barely clears the rubber stop and doesnt have to be removed. ez down is the only manufacturer, but many sellers.

Yeah I bought this from Truckaddons but it was shipped from EZ Down. I sent them the photo above and said here is the one I was suppose to have and they sent back they are still researching.
I bought the one from ETrailer.com and they told me the model number DZ 43202 was the one I needed even though it says on the package for Ford F250/F350 '08-'10, but I was in the same boat. No way it would close with the rubber bumper there. Nothing in the instructions about the bumper. I could see through the gap that that bumper didn't even touch the metal standoff on the tailgate so I don't think angthing is adversly affected so I just pulled off the bumper. With the tail gate closed there is no movement or rattle so I don't know why some people have the problem and some don't.
I will double check with EZDOWN/DEEZEE on Monday.
I did notice it barely slows it down and when I saw another truck with one it lowered a lot slower.
Hmmmmmmm.
I also noticed that one of my tailgate retainer cables is a good 1/4"-1/2" shorter than the other. Ford will be replacing that Monday too.
