It doesn't say it has heads so I'm guessing not . I'll find out tomorrow

If I drop ship it on a common carrier it shouldn't be too bad. A skid spot from Ohio was 175.00 .

im sure its just the front cover. that should be pretty cheap.

The mechanic said he could hear air in the front cover and #2 and #8 cylinders ???

I sure hope it's the front cover because I want to have some other stuff done since it's out . Gauges on the pillar and some stuff he recommended.

With the engine on the stand and the oil pan off, I plugged up all the cooling system hoses.

I pressurized the cooling system again and no pressure would build. It was all leaking out of the bottom of the front cover. If I recall correctly it was coming out where the oil pickup tube bolts to it. Anyway as I barred the engine over I started hearing air pressure noises coming out of the cylinders number 2 and 8. I am unable to locate a crack or any decisive reason so I am going to pull the glowplugs and redo it Monday.

The build date might be why I don't have the radiator ATF cooler and you do. I just as soon not have the atf cooler in the rad. Just another place for a leak and you wouldn't even notice it for awhile.

Mine has a Dec '99 build date and no radiator ATF cooler

Well so far it's a VERY strange hole in the front cover . There are still concerns about #2 and #8 but I have to put a new front cover and water pump on to test it. So for now this is the culprit.

Well found a hole in the front cover and strange wear marks. The water pump also has serious issues... I will let Tom update this.
