X,
Sence you got the motor out have you thought of changing the head gaskets? just a thought.
Absolutely not. They are at their best seal ever, besides he has PMR's and those stock gaskets can take more abuse then they can.
With that being said, the manifolds are off. Two of the bolts had to be cut and then taken out with heat and a pair of vice grips. The whole engine (internally) was cleaned of all of the custard. I cleaned the oil pan and the block and it's ready to go back on. I do however want to know if you want to get the pan wirewheeled and then covered with POR15, replaced with a new pan, or just throw it back on as is. It is pretty eaten up with rust.
The manifold hardware will be in tomorrow morning.
Let me know, I am still going to drill/tap the AIH plug for your boost, drill and tap the manifold for your EGT gauge, and gut and plug the pedistal.
dont forget the ceramic coated up pipes; turbo' and intake spider too!!! anything else we could "throw" on there? Looking good guys....keep up the hard work!!! hope he will be ready by turkey day!!!

Dont feel bad im having the same problems. Head had to come off for the second time should have had them checked when i got the truck 2 weeks ago. I bought the truck off a guy who had it at a stealership also and they told him motor needed to be replaced. When i called them they could not justify their reasoning they just said it needed to be replaced.
I went with a new pan a few years ago. Scuffed it real good, cleaned with the POR cleaner and put two coats of POR15 on it. It is now rusted. I wish I would have stripped it prior to coating it.
