Sure they recognized it, there's a tsb out for it. If your dealer won't recognize it, then try another dealer. Unfortunately we are at the mercy of our dealers, competent or not, when our trucks need repairs. When I told mine of the issue, they told me about the tsb (which I already knew about from FTE) and said they'd get it fixed, to which they did. If you're getting nowhere with the dealer, escalate it to Ford customer relations.
Sorry blue, my comment was for the one a couple back from the other user. I'm on crappy internet on my Xoom at my kids school and the quote didn't pick up.
Anyways, your dealer sounds like they're trying to help you out so that's good. You should see if they'll let you run another SD for a couple days to see if it has similar issues.
Mine still shifting good. Problem is I was doing an oil change yesterday and I see I have transmission oil leaking. It was all over the bottom of the pan, cross member and up around the sides. Hopefully it is just the pan gasket. Level is still OK and it hasn't been bad enough to leave spots on my floor in the garage. I'll get it booked in and get them to look at it.
I ended up giving the underside a good cleaning and I snugged up the bolts around the pan. So far so good, no more oil has weeped out around the pan.
Well it looks like I posted that a bit too quick. I looked under the truck today and I see it is still leaking. I just got home from dropping the truck off at the dealers. They have it booked in for tomorrow.
The shop called and it turned out to be the seal on the output shaft where it joins onto the transfer case. The parts are supposed to arrive on Friday so when I come off shift Monday it looks like it will be ready to go.
I had the TSB applied to my truck 4 months ago and everything is good so far. I don't drive it much (only 8000 miles in a year) so i thought I would wait a while before I reported.

Very happy to hear your results are good RZAR. Will be getting mine done Monday, 12/12, after waiting 4 months for the parts to come in.

Thanks for posting that information...

I went through the same thing. The dealer was supposed to call when the parts came in and never did. My feeling is that they were hoping that the problem would just go away. Of course when I called them their answer was that they just came in today.
The good news is that it seems to have fixed the problem but I have noticed that my gas mileage is down about 1mpg from 12.9 TO 11.9 in stop and go driving. Has anyone else noticed this?

I thought the same thing loganwork. This dealer does not sell
many trucks and they want me to bring in a copy of the TSB, which
seems odd. Glad to hear that the fix has solved your trans issue. I will
keep an eye on the gas mileage after todays visit to the trans doctor.
Thanks go to 2000Silverbullet and the others that posted the link
to the TSB.
My transmission woes continue. I was hoping to pick up my truck today but the new seal didn't stop the leak. Ford has told them to try it again. They have another one in stock so it will be done tonight or tomorrow. Hopefully it works or they will have to go futher into it. I hope it is no something wrong with the shaft or the case causing it not to seal.

Are they sure there is nothing wrong with metal that the seal sits on. Seems to me a new seal that is not over torqued should fix a leak if that was the problem.
