A very much repeated phrase in this particular debate is "let's compare apples to apples" yet, this thread reopens with the invitation of a very mixed basket of fruit. There's to wide a spectrum. Direct injection is now on gas and Diesel engines. Use this as the epoch and let the original thread RIP.
I was happy to see it die.

Considering we're comparing gas to diesel...good simile.

The debate will remain relevant as long as there are various types of fuel feeding these trucks. You're welcome to leave the thread and not participate if you'd like.

The title is biased.. it Should be: PSD vs Gas

On a serious note, the newer DPF and super complicated mechanisms sort of scare me. The 6L is a known breed and I'm fine with that..

The 6.7L forum has a thread going about who came over from 6.0s... I was kind of shocked at 1) the lack of 6.0 bashing, and 2) the number of guys who said "well I kept the 6.0 around for work". He might be very likely to self destruct apparently at random, but there's something to be said for the consistent lunacy of the crazy uncle who shows up to the family reunion with a pack of Lucky Strikes and a bottle of Mad Dog 20/20.

Comparing a bunch of beatness to a bunch more beatness isn't a good use of time.

Oh boy! I laughed when I saw this thread back in my subscriptions!

It isn't much surprise though after all this time the psd is still better.

OUCH. That $20k buys a whole lot of gasoline.

There should be threads with titles similar to;

"So what was the name of the tow truck driver that picked your 6.7 up on the highway?"

This wasn't so much to keep the old debate going as originally asked by Bill, but to help steer any future "which truck is best for me" type of questions to as well. That is why the title was changed from v10 vs psd to gas vs diesel. Bring any question about any generation of sd engines and it is welcome

This was a good thread for sure! And can still be! I said it before, and I'll say it again. Both have their plus's and minuses.

Another way to look at it is what do you want?

What can you afford?

This could spiral into what it was before or become a informative thread that may help others make a decision on what Ford motor will fit their needs.

Me personally I like my gas motors and they have served me well over the years without any major problems and I've used many of them for work trucks so I have worn more than a few out.

At this time I own a 6.2 DRW SC 4x2 with 4.30 gears and pull a 5th wheel RV trailer that exceeds it's 15600 tow rating by a few hundred lbs on most days, we also live in it and 8 months out of the year and travel this great country so it gets a workout. It doesn't have the highest torque rating available but it sure gets the job done, the new electronics and 6 speed make a world of difference over any other gas motor I've ever had.

I really liked my 5.4L more when I saw an F350 PSD in the shop the other day with a bad turbo. But, that little devil on my shoulder keeps telling me that my next truck needs to be PSD (I wish he'd go away!).
