But you should replace them regardless if they are bad or not. Glow plugs only need to be replaced it one fails. And even if they do, most people live in a warm enough climate that it wont kill them to not have one working.

Don't know if spark plugs are cheaper even if they don't shoot through the hood. On modern engines spark plug replacement cost often above $600, so on 300.000 miles even with 100k intervals that makes $1800. Average diesel needs couple glows in that period.

You are purposely skipping over a few other prerequisites.

I just gotta love the back-and-forth.

When it's a diesel-owner, V10'ers need to spend $600+ for plugs because they are having it done at the dealer.

When it's a V10'er, the diesel-owner is paying the dealer to put ARP head studs in their 6.0's.

But each one is quick to say "when I did XXXX" - meaning without paying a mechanic for the work

No matter how you count it Krewat, replacing 3 sets of spark plugs is going to take much more beer than replacing 2 pcs of glow plugs

Not my point, and the amount of beer you have already consumed can't change that

$600 for a spark plug change? That's 6-7 hours of labor + cost of plugs. I don't know of ANY engine that takes that many hours - especially for a professional shop to change spark plugs on.

The Dodge 5.7 Hemi has 16 plugs, some are in very difficult locations, and that's only a little over an hour job.

The longest sparkplug job I've ever done was on a Ranger 2.5 8-plug engine. We decided to do it with the intake manifold still on, and it took around 2 hours to do it.

Don't have to worry about spark plugs. Bonus of having a diesel. Plus getting 20 plus mpg per fill up is a huge bonus over an gas engine truck. Diesel FTW!!!!!
