With new tuning, headers, strait pipe and intake you could get a 3v V10 close to that.
I do not see why it would not hold up, am i missing something?

I like the sound of a big diesel... and the smell early in the morning when it's warming up. I'd miss that. :-)

(I'm especially going to like the sound with a bigger turbo and full exhaust.)

There are some VERY strong opinions here abougt the V10 engine in some trucks . I am one who differs from those who like the V10 . My 7.3 is a VERY good engine and the truck tows my 10K trailer without much black smoke at all and it is getting 20 mpg on the highway . and I have yet to meet a V10 that can do that !!!!!!!
And I have yet to meet a V10 that can keep up with my PSD on the road , whether towing or not !!!!!!!!!!!
I have a friend that has a X with the V10 and he cant even keep up with me going up hills and his X weights less than my 350 , and my 350 has way mofre ***** at ANY point then the X does

Sorry I am a believer in the PSD NOT the V10

Now that wouldn't be a very bright thing to do! No, my computer is in the back while I drive.

that's ..... er,ah, carry my 4
40 quarts !

And I thought MY oil changes were expensive

and mine are much more frequent

let's see if my mind works this early....
40 quarts/40,000 miles versus 15 quarts/5,000 miles...
1 quart/1,000 miles versus 3 quarts/1,000 miles = mine is more expensive
ANOTHER thing the psd is betta at

And to be perfectly correct, torque is a measure of force, not work. You can have 1750 ft. lbs. of torque, with zero RPM.. (Which, by the way, is zero horsepower)

I'm pretty sure horsepower, which is torque times speed, is a measure of work. So, if you want to know how much work you can do (e.g., how big of a trailer you can pull, and how fast you can pull it up a hill), you need to know how much horsepower you have available.

I knew this thread would get fun again.
ACTUALLY

you are correct ! my typo - torque is force

here's a good read on it....

the 7.3 is a good, actually a great diesel, but that thing is a dawg when stock, be realistic, the V10 will tear up the 7.3, stock for stock, everyone knows this, towing 10K, maybe the 7.3, i do not know

Sorry, but a stock 7.3 will not out tow a V10.

that is funny that you say " more power" . The V10 has more. 97-99 they had 30 more than the 7.3, 00-04 70 more, and 05- 127 more.
