I'm just getting the facts straight. The v-10 makes more power on paper it will not dyno more then a 6.4L even on the same dyno.
Yes it will pull the same weight just not as well as a psd of the same year and same setup.
The psd will get better mpg then a v-10 no matter what year or setup the diesel just gets better mpg.
The only thing the v-10 has over the psd is the maintence cost. Which really it's not that big of a deal. If you have the money to spend the coin for the diesel option then you should have the money for maintence.
My point was that it was totally un-called for an irrelevant for you to bring up the 6.4 in a V10 only thread. You apparently skipped right over that and went straight for my remarks about the Cummins 5.9...
Do we even need to go back about 15 pages and show the article that showed that the v10 lost way more power than the PSD? Amazing how short people's memories are. And for those of you saying, "Well that was a diesel magazine, of course they are going to say that." Well if I recollect, there was another dyno comparison that showed the same thing on this thread, eons ago. AND that same magazine made a remark in the other thread they did where they compared diesel to gas that the v10 was impressive on the 15% pull and might have caught the PSD. Yes, they might have a bias, but not enough of one to post that huge of a difference.
Besides, who cares about a 12 hp difference (probably 8 at the rw if there is zero difference) when the psd has what, 200 more torque?
You can aruge maintenance cost, initial cost, reliability, whatever, but you cannot say the v10 gets better mpg or pulls harder than the PSD.

If an engine has more power, it pulls harder. Simple as that. A V10 has more power then a 7.3, 6.0 and 6.4 and will therefore pull harder.
Well I already made an offer to outpull Bill with my 21 HP tractor.
Can't beat low gearing, 4WD, big wheels and locking differential.
And you will out pull me.... Up to about 8 MPH and then I will run off and leave you.
The only way you could beat me is if we both hitched up to something so heavy that I could not get it rolling but you could.
I have a hard time thinking of anything that I could not get rolling in 4L with all 4 tires on clean pavemeant, that your tractor could.
EDIT: I have asked this 3 times and not gotten an answer.
I can put a brand new V10 in my truck for $2700. If you blow a motor what does it cost?
And don't give me the " 7.3s never wear out" crap. Really, what would that cost you?
I don't know...never needed one. I find it interesting that you know exactly how much it would cost to replace a V10.
The PO of my second V10 is an idoit. He ran it with out an air filter and a small rock somehow got lodged in the #4 intake valve.
Needless to say, the right head is shot.
I looked at a new head or all new engine, but ended up getting one from anouther FTE user.

So I make a truthfully statement and you get butt hurt and since it bashed the v-10 you deleted the post. But if someone post anything about the psd in a negative way you would have kept it. Yeah this is no dictatorship.
Seriously, if you were a V10'er, you would have been infracted about 5 times and been given a 2-week (or longer) vacation.
I should just drive my v10 off a cliff, buy a Honda, and infract you

Go do what you want with your v-10. Not once have I ever said the v-10 is a bad engine. Anything that is a ford truck I think it's a great truck. I Just think a ford diesel truck is a excellent truck. I just can't believe you v-10 owners think that a v-10 engine is just as equal or better then a psd. I know some of you guys don't think that but I can name a few that do. That is what I'm having a hard time with.
