Brendan, still waiting for the vet to call with an update. Surgery was relatively successful last night, but I need to hear that she is rebounding from the anemia. That is what they seemed the most concerned with. If she does not start manufacturing more red blood cells - and if they keep exploding like they were - it is all for not.
They didn't call me overnight which is good it means nothing traumatic happened.
For the rest of you who are unaware of the situation, I had to take Mattie in for emergency surgery last night. She was near death when I got off the train yesterday, and had to make the decision to send her into surgery to get a twisted spleen removed. She was so anemic her body was getting ready to shut down.
Old gal was still waggin that nub around though, still wanted me to sit and pet her. Even with IV's and a catheter in last night she sat with us for pets and put on her brave face. No whining or crying...just those giant sad eyes.
Well the positive vibes musta worked...Mattie is sleeping in her bed right in front of me. It was a surprise because at lunch the vet seemed to think she would have to stay for another night.
She really seems back to her old self, except maybe feeling a bit weak and not eating much....I mean gezz...poor girl has a foot long freakin incision going all the way up her abdomen.

Indeed. I am impressed with Eastern Iowa Veterinary Clinic. Those folks really do know their stuff.
Anyways, thanks guys! Sorry to manipulate the OT, just really freaked me out there for a bit....ready to get back to normal life now.
You're not manipulating the OT, woman! We're family here, and like any family, we like to BS, but when one of us is hurting, we all hurt a little, so it's time to pull together. Got it?
What Brendan said, you need a vent, confidant, shoulder, punching bag, were here for ya, except the punching bag, that's Eddo....we got your back girl!
g'mornin' Matt! How are you feeling? I'm about 85-90% right now. Still working on getting rehydrated. I've had a massive caffeine/soda addiction for a long time, so I'm using this 'event' to curtail that. That's leaving my head & body a little funky, but I'm down from 3-4 liters per day, to maybe 3 or 4 cans, and plan to cut back and maybe drop completely (I hope). I just LOOOVVVEEE the taste of that crap!!! UGH!!! Oh well, my & lemonade are about to get thoroughly reacquainted.
I'm feeling a lot better Brendan. How about you man? So i went to the doctor yesterday to pick up medicine for my knees, and he said it sounds like i had more flue like symptons rather then food poisoning

Hopefully it's not the Swine variety, it kicked Bri's butt for over a week.....

what Steve said Matt.
stay inside if you can, and if you must go out, cover your mouth and nose to prevent cold air intake. it may sound silly, but something as simple as a painters mask will warm up the incoming air enough to keep you from getting any sicker.
when your immune system is down from a cold or the flu, it is very easy to escalate into something worse like bronchitis or phenomena.
i know, because i did not cover up or stay inside when i had the cold 5 weeks ago, and am still fighting both the bronchitis and phenomena for 4 weeks now.
