doing better now. still have a lot of congestion in the lungs, but other than that i am ready to go back to work.
i tried putting the starter in my nieces car today at the body shop.
the pos that put the engine in it before we bought it mangled 2 of the 3 starter bolts so bad that the heads are completely rounded.
so the car is now at a friends repair shop, and he is gonna work on it on monday.
he said he had a special tool for removing rounded head bolts when i called him for ideas.
so he told me to leave it apart, and came over with the rollback and picked it up.
She isn't acting sore, so I can only assume she isn't. Still on pain meds though.
Glad you're feeling better.
On the car..good grief. Things can never be simple, can they?
Looks like I broke the loader today. Was messing around with the new (to us) loader that's got a high dump bucket on it. When I got in the high dump bucket was cycling very slowly. Used it a little bit and it started working properly. I figure air in the system since it had been taken off for transport.
Problem is that once I got it working right I went to turn around and push up another pile. Went to put it in reverse and it sounded like I ran over a piece of brittle plastic. That crunching/cracking sound. Broke the universal joint on the shaft that goes from the engine to the transmission all to hell. It's fixable just need time and parts.

OUCH!!!
looks like pete is gonna be pulling the engine on his "new" loader.
-20 here today. Well, one thermometer says -10, but that thermometer is in the sunlight so I can only assume that reading is a bit too toasty to be truth.
Every day I live in this place, I despise it just a little bit more.
Just got back from vacation last night, what a shock that was. It was 70 and sunny in San Diego 2 days ago and it was -24 here this am. Nothing like a 94 degree temperature departure to shock one back into reality.

Shouldn't be too big an issue, Tom. It's an old Dresser just articulate it all the way around to one side and you've got pretty good access to the shaft. Pulled it out that way without messing with the engine can probably put it back in that way. Just surprised the crap outta me. I was realy scared when I thought I might've wrecked the trans cause that would be a huge project. Input shaft shouldn't be too terrible.
them dressers are kind of funny that way. if it was a cat or a deere, you would have to pull half the machine apart to replace that u-joint.
it is 21 degrees here at 1:15 pm, with 25 mph winds. that makes it feel like it is around -5 with the wind chill, and it is a strong blow straight off of the water. so it is cold wet wind that goes rite through you.
