them dressers are kind of funny that way. if it was a cat or a deere, you would have to pull half the machine apart to replace that u-joint.
it is 21 degrees here at 1:15 pm, with 25 mph winds. that makes it feel like it is around -5 with the wind chill, and it is a strong blow straight off of the water. so it is cold wet wind that goes rite through you.
They're old and junky but man they're work horses. I've had the 1990 Dresser dragging countweight pushing up leaf piles. This one's actually an International. I mis-spoke earlier. It's kind of messed up the way they are.
Says Dresser on the side yet the "hubcaps" so to speak say "ih" on them. That's not the broken loader but it's pretty similar. That loader there would be my favorite if it had an auto-leveling detent. Not that I can't level the bucket myself it's just nice to be able to pop it into the detent and not worry about it.
Shouldn't be too big an issue, Tom. It's an old Dresser just articulate it all the way around to one side and you've got pretty good access to the shaft. Pulled it out that way without messing with the engine can probably put it back in that way. Just surprised the crap outta me. I was realy scared when I thought I might've wrecked the trans cause that would be a huge project. Input shaft shouldn't be too terrible.
That ain't a big deal, seems there might be a finger mashing point in there but don't remember exactly
depends a bit on the size of machine

That is one of the first transition machines, still the Hough design which was also built by IH
Normally ain't a big thing to fix the bucket levelers
The "hubcaps" are planetary covers
What a gorgeous day here in Santa Cruz. It was around 65* and nothing but blue sky's. Went with my girlfriend and got the truck washed and then went for a nice drive down west cliff.
OH and I put my (new to me) bumper on my truck yesterday.
