Yupp.....it's cold up here in da mountains, I think it was around 80* down in phoenix, BIG difference in climate "UP HERE"
I don't know enough about the geography in AZ I guess to know where Flagstaff is. I know what you mean about the temp difference in the mountains though. When we were on our ATV vacation in Utah this summer, it could be 90+ degrees down in the flats, but was in the lower 60's when we got up into the mountains just an hour or so later.

Just for example.....Phoenix has an elevation of 1100 ft, Flagstaff has an elevation of 7,000 ft. And I live at the base of a mountain that is 12,750 ft. Here's a picture of the mountain in my backyard. I have the hi-alt tow tunes for my DP for good reason
Looks a lot like some of the mountains we saw in Utah. Man, that was an awesome week. I'd love to go back there again someday. We were frequently above 7000 feet, camped our first night at just over 9000 feet, and got a little over 10,000 feet at one point. It was odd to still see snow on the ground though, being about 70 degrees outside and in late June. We put it to good use though, using it to pack our coolers. That helped a lot when we were going 2 days between making stops in a town where we could buy ice.

Travis, I love your backyard. That is an awesome view.
We are at about 700' above sea level in Minneapolis/St. Paul.
I guess I though most of AZ was warm, looks like you are in a good spot.
I love the change of seasons that we have here in MN. This is my favorite time of year. The trees are changing the temperature is good and there is no humidity, hunting is starting, fishing is good. If you can catch some fish and shoot some birds, it's been a good day.
In the morning, a gentleman is going to wake up and his Mercedes Benz CLS 55 will not be there! Actually, it won't be there in about another hour, but chances are he'll sleep through the whole ordeal.

I'm on my way to Arlington in a little less than two weeks. I can go two ways, and the difference is seven miles.
One is via Tucson and El Paso, the other is via Flag and Amarillo.
Guess which one I ALWAYS choose.
To heck with the price of fuel to climb to altitude. Gimmee the scenery every time!

I did that for a while till I joined the army. I still like watching the shows about it. It was a lot of fun while I did it, but I was just a kid at the time. Now, I have have jumped out of a lot of airplanes and been shot at and blown up quite a few times. I am now looking for something else to do since I am getting out of the army in about a year. Any suggestions for an action packed job?

Give me a heads up before ya leave Marv.......I can give you my cell number and maybe buy you a cup of coffee or breakfast along your way! The only FTE'rs I've met are the AZ ones in our chapter, I'm sure TONS of people on here drive thru my city all the time, and just don't realize it. The famous "Route 66" goes thru here, and also I-40 which is basicaly what was the end of 66 lol

It gets damn nippy in Phoenix in the winter. That's the Chamber of Commerces dirty little secret.

I had a pal in Los Angeles that used to do that. If he quietly snatched one out of a driveway or garage, he would go back and get a big charge out of watching the former owners expressions and actions upon discovering their car had been grabbed.
I was quite surprised to see ~7000' elevation on my GPS driving I-40 through AZ to Vegas a few years ago. My Ranger started running like one of those hairy horse turds, too...
Definitely let us know when you'll be in town Marv -- Arlington is about 20 mins from me.
