You should know that unlike at least one of Scottie's friends.....I don't miss.
I worked a lot of long hours after IKE and am just now seeing the dust settle. Our daughter got rendered homeless by a tree, so I have been moving her and her brood closer to my home. She's actually IN my house for now.
All in all, other than way too many days at the fire station, me and the family came out pretty good.
I know you will be back strong as ever soon. Who knows, I might even pop in a fish a bit with you!!
Barry.......thanks. Thanks.
Rick, Joe, Roland, great to see all of you on here for a brief respite from your chores.
Rick, vent away, part of the healing process after a crisis is to talk about it. We will not feel sorry for you, but we all feel concern, and care about what you and yours are going through.
Godspeed on your recovery brother, and as always, if we can do anything let us know.
Thanks Roland for keeping my friends up to date with what is going on with my life. Jim, you are a true friend. Barry, Scott, and the rest of you, I LOVE all you guys and gals.
Scott, I think you are right about not being Katrina. Also when you guys secede form the union, I will be with you. I lived in Texas for 2 years, and will move back there in in an instance.
I have not been on here becuse I am not one to talk about my troubles. I think most of you can relate with this. I think Mark, and more of you can relate with this. My wife (Phillis) will be coming back home tomorrow for the first time sense the storm. That will help get me back on track.
For my friends that have been calling me, . I thank you guys from the bottom of my heart. . I just want every one to know, I will be back in business in a few months, I hope. lol. I will not tell you the details of whats going on here, becouse I don't want anyone feeling sorry for me. I am strong, and will get through this. I had no idea how fast things can change.
While I am closed for business, I am trying to get hold of someone in the Texas relief field to see if me and my tractor can go and help them. They need our prayers and help worst then we do down here. If any of you guys want to join me in this, please let me know. My truck has been doing great pulling my tractor and the rest of the stuff I been pulling.
My wife has been my life line. She is taking care of trying to get the store back together while I have been helping my neighbors move thing. Yesterday a couple people from Arkansas came to my store and helped me scrap all the feed and other stuff out of my feed room. These guys came down for no other reason but to help us. They are from LITTLE ROCK. GOD SEND.
I am not one for a lot of words. Thank you FTE 7.3 FORUM. I am a member for life. Is there a life time joining thing. . I am fishing Joe.
Good to see you on, Rick. This place hasn't been the same without you. You have my number. When you're ready for Susan and I to make a run over there, just call.
Also, when you're ready to move to the Republic of Texas you let me, Roland and Joe know and we'll be there to move you.
Not to steal anything away from Rick but, the my insurance company was out here yesterday and they are getting started on the repairs to my house. All I have to do is pay the deductible and they said they will handle the rest. They found some additonal roof damage that I missed and the adjuster said that while he cannot prove it was from the hurricane that they were going to go ahead and repair that as well. A contractor will be out next week.
I am just now getting a reliable connection. Its been on and off for a week or so, mostly off. The damage along the shore was devastating. Our neighborhood was lucky and got wind which blew down trees, fences and roofs. Our neighbors across the road in Nassau Bay and all the way down to Seabrook were blown away by a huge surge. It is heartening however to see how this hard working area goes about reacting to a tragedy. Yesterday I was bike riding in Nassau Bay and there was too old ladies-like 90-working in the heat to replace a garden in the park there that was washed away by the surge.
OK so me and my family are back from this nuisance called Ike. We stayed through the hurricane it self but left 2 days later due to no power, We have a 2 year old who I was not gonna leave without power (well not gonna leave without Bob the builder) plus 50 bucks a day in fuel and a 2 hour wait time for the generator. So we loaded up the stroke and went to stay with family in San Antonio. Well almost 3 weeks later we have power back and no real damage to property (unless you count the four wheeler trailer which was destroyed by a tree) but I have plenty of clean up and fire wood (read more work). We had a good time with the family though and I got in some good four wheeling.
There have been a lot of off topic threads in our forum. If any one ever asked me what the people are like on our forum I would just have them read this thread. There is more genuine concern, offers of help and just all around good heartedness from everyone. Not just a group of people talking "trucks" A bunch of friends who stick together to help one another out. I am proud to be a part of this forum!!
Barry Thank you for starting the thread and all of the effort on your behalf.
