We also cancelled our trip to town the day after getting the freezing rain.
I hope you feel better soon John.

You don`t want to wait too long John, sometimes a small problem can become a bigger one.

Morris is right John, you don't want to let a health issue get out of hand. Our bodies are like old trucks, you got to keep up on the maintenance!
Good luck on the horse hunt this weekend Sherm. I am no expert but look their feet over closely. Unfortunately a lot of horses suffer from some degree of founder which can give them hoof problems. We have a minature donkey that has some problems with that. We hire a trimmer to fix his hooves a couple times a year and he manages ok.

Good luck with the horse hunt Sherm, glad it is you. Both my kids are horse crazy so we spend a lot of time in the summer taking them to riding lessons. My daughter wants a horse in the worst way but it is better this way than owning one.

Morning boys. Nice and mild out there. Starting the day at 0 degrees is quite ok with me. Thanks for the well wishes lol. Sometimes I wonder if I'm completely off my rocker for enjoying the company of animals so much, but then I think of how calm and peaceful I feel when around them... Looks like this weekend works to meet up with the people who have the dexter cows also. It's going to be an interesting Sunday. I have to make the cows a priority once I've picked them up, so as long as I can get on the road in decent time, I might be able to look at one horse on the way to the city, then one on the way back. Being as I'll already have the stock trailer with me...there's no telling what could happen.

Colin, are riding lessons expensive? Its been a long time since I rode and I've considered trying to find someone to give me a few proper lessons. My father in law is the president of the local volunteer Therapeutic Riding Club. The ranch where they meet is owned by a very nice lady who has some pretty nice show horses as well as the therapy horses. When they come back from holidays I'm hoping to talk to her about lessons, technique, handling and such. My kids and wife all like horses, but I fear that I'm the crazy one

Hope you get your health sorted out John. Got word last night that the farmer who's land we hunt elk on up north was killed in a snowmobile accident last weekend. Drinking and not wearing a helmet apparently. Fell off the sled and it ran over him. His body was alive upon arrival to the hospital but brain dead and the family had to make the decision of DNR. Be safe out there guys...

Well, another week is darn near done, and the month along with it. Have a great day guys!!

Good day folks.
A few yrs ago I had hip problems that really bothered me whichI got checked out with nothing showing up other than wear due to age plus a touch of arthritis. I`m glad I`ve never needed any medcation.
I feel blessed having pets, I can`t imagine life without them. One winter I boarded 2 horses and it was hard to see them go that spring.
It`s sad to hear about that farmer being killed in a snowmobile accident, especially under those circumstances. I quad without wearing a helmet but at least I do it with a lot of fear and common sense in mind.

Our daughter takes both Western & English Riding. The local girl we take our kids too for lessons charges $25.00/session ands he teaches Western riding. The other place we take our daughter teaches English riding and those are a week long, four hours a day. I believe she charges $170 for the week.

It was a sunny, spring like day here John.
This nice weather was a good thing for these fellows trying to get a large track hoe out of the mud hole close to my farm. They started yesterday afternoon with two large tow trucks and today they brought out a large track crane plus two large pay loaders finally getting it out early this evening.
The road block on our highway finally came down around 7.30-8 pm.

How did the excavator get in the predicament anyways Morris, was he attempting to travel through the ditch and just sink in the mud? Really good thing it never got frozen in there for too long or they'd be waiting until spring to get it out.

Happy Saturday all. Had a bad week. Blew up my snowblower. An oil plug fell out. It's only 4yrs old, and hardly been used. Ordered an new engine off ebay for $305.00 US. It's a bolt in, all I have to do is remove the drive pulley. I have heard this is a common occurrence with the B&S engines. I'll make sure those plastic plugs are replaced with metal ones loctited in. We had a neighbour and his son killed in a snowmobile accident last Sunday, and Dawn's cousin was killed in another snowmobile accident in Yellowstone the same day. Needless to say with the crap storm at work, and the personal tragedies this week, I have not been very active on this forum. If I had the land and opportunity to have farm critter's, I'd sure pursue it. I'd never have the ball's to butcher an animal myself, but would sure love to have them around. Guy's: About health and joint issue's. I'd just saw on the internet, that having sex often, helps to keep the body free of ailment's. Remember everything on the internet is true! I hope to try this out very soon. If I remain concious, and out of the hospital, I'll let you know how it works. Have a great weekend guy's. The weather is terrific. Just hope it doesn't snow till I get my blower together. Hopefully next weekend.
