Morning boys! The weather is looking to be good today.
Seems like lots of hay in this area Morris. So many guys were panicking about there being a shortage and everyone was putting up hay so now there is an abundance. We bought from a neighbor 6 miles east of us for $35/1200# bale. I seen some selling in excess of $150/bale. They're real nice bales too, the sheep love them, I love the smell of them lol.
John, most guys say animals will eat 2-2.5%% of their body weight per day. So an average 1500# cow will be eating between 30-40# of hay per day. A 1200# bale should in theory last a month or so, but some will go to waste as they will drop some, trample it, etc. We've been feeding our sheep off one bale since late November lol. We have a small feeder that we fill a couple times a day when its getting low. The bale is probably 1/2 way gone. Having 7 more bales sitting there is sort of a waste right now, but hopefully I can get the other animals soon, and also I will put the bales on pallets and tarp them for summer. They should keep fine I hope.
Back before I found our neighbor selling the bales for so reasonable, the going rate was 9 cents a lb. Now that people realize there isn't such a shortage as they expected, I see the price dropping to 5 cents and lower...
Have a great day guys!!!!
on edit...glad this is a no topic thread... I pretty much just obsess over animals these days...
Happy Saturday all. Jordan eat's probably 10-20% of his body weight every meal. I have to get him into eating potatoes. We haul alot of them to the US. I can get them cheap. Our hot water tank went last night 4 yrs old. I have a neighbour who owns a hot water tank company, so he showed me how to reset it. I'll find out in 1/2 hr if it works. Major Hockey busy this weekend end with hockey tourney's. 6 games for Jordan, and probably 6 for Kalan. They keep winning. Not used to that. I was supposed to go look at some 56 part's today, but until I find out about my hot water tank, I can't risk spending the cash. I'll call the guy today, and see if he'll hold them for me. I can't see an abundance of 56 f100 owner's around so I hope I'll be OK. Have a great day guy's.
Good afternoon to all that lurk here, this is mighty fine weather we`re having!
It`s good to hear there is plenty of lots of hay in your area, there was a panick here too with the asking price of hay crazy high. When I used to put up hay I loved the smell of it too.
Good luck with your Grant, I had mine replaced a head of time a few yrs ago, I hate having an emergentcy. Also good luck to Jordan and his team`s winning ways.
Sadly I haven`t see an abundance of F100 around here for a long time.
That's a lot of snow. We spent the day at the rink and came home with a bronze metal. The team played well and had a lot of fun doing it. I got one tired boy on my hands.
Howdy Gang. Got the hot water tank fixed. Warrantied item. Some kind of reset switch. Good thing having a neighbour in the business. Jordan's team lost a hard fought battle tonight 3-1. He played well. Only Kalan tomorrow for the gold medal. I get to sleep in. The highway's were terrible yesterday and today, with snow and wind. It would have better for me if Jordan could have taken his car to the game, and I would have saved myself a couple hrs per game just going to watch. We saw a F250 4 paw extremely lifted in the ditch on the way to the game this morning. Jordan says to me "He left his window's open" I told him it rolled and they fell out. He told me me, It's a good thing I drove him to his game's, lol. Have a great night all.
Happy Sunday mornin'all. Got a roast in the slow cooker. Kalan has hockey at 6pm. I hope to go look at parts before the game. It's close to where we play. Heavy horror frost this morning. Hot water tank isn't 100%. Semi hot, not like before, but good enough to get a warm shower. I'll call my neighbour after I shower & shave. All the laundry is done. Have a great day guy's.
Evening boys. Was a nice day here today. Definitely can't complain about the winter weather so far this year.
What's scary Morris? Lol...there are still 3 Ford trucks in the yard I need them to get stuff for my animals... I was going to run into Manitoba today to look at a Norwegian Fjord horse, but decided to work on my kitchen cabinets some more. Got 9 built and 9 to go. I'm enjoying it. Would be much nicer to be working on a truck or something, but this is more necessary if I must be honest...
Hope everyone is relaxing for the evening and preparing to attack the week ahead!!
The wife ordered new bedroom furniture the other day so we spent the morning getting ready for the delivery on Tuesday. She is one excited lady so hopefully all goes well.
