Morning boys. Temps are moderating... I'm not complaining. It hasn't been -30 - something for a week yet, so we should really count our stars.
Guess our cow catching weekend has been postponed. The guy we're getting them from has an uncle in the city that is in palliative care and not expected to make it much longer. Rather than have to make 2 trips to the city close together, he's hoping to kill 2 birds/one stone. I'm ok with that, gives me a few days to get the barn 100% in order. Morris, I like the small frame cow for a couple reasons. Main one is that they're easier to handle. Closely followed by the fact that they don't consume as much but have a higher conversion feed/meat ratio. The small size would make it easier to consume our own animals without having to worry about selling unless we wanted to. Added bonus...they're really cute...which will make it near impossible to butcher I guess...
Dammit...income tax time. The only part of self employment that I don't care for.
Good day folks.
It`s nice that the temps moderated from that -30 we had.
Likely those smaller frame cows are tamer. I had Hereford cattle which were hand feed and they were really nice to handle. I just hated the butcher part even tho that is why these animals are raised for.
Income tax time sucks but it helps to get an early start on it.
Back at you John, Grant, have a great day....what`s left of it.
Nice to hear that your weather is so warm Jaime. I wish I was in Kentucky, I`m really tired of waiting for spring to finally get here.
Evening boys. Home a little early today, got to visit my sheep while the daylight was still here Morris, the Dexters are supposed to be very tame. There is also a miniature Hereford breed. Very cute little things, but they fetch a good dollar. I'm jumping at these 2 dexter calves because the guy isn't trying to rape someone on the price.
I was walking through Canadian Tire yesterday and I was in the home section when came across a set of wrenches, it was a 30 piece ratcheting set on for a $100. It was missing a wrench but all the big ones were there. The SAE goes from 1/4 to 1 1/8 and the metric goes from 6 to 22. When I went through them today I found I was missing the 8mm. Well that is my good deal for the week, I hope that come by here find good fortune this week.
Very tame anumals I like. What are the prices like on those miniature Herefords?
More daylight is music to my ears, more heat would be better yet.
What was the regular price on that 30 piece ratcheting set? I bought a big socket set with 2 smaller pieces missing and a small metric ratchet set, neither were a real great bargin but still ok.
I`m scared to even look at any more Canadian Tire`s tool sales, both my shops are cramed right full and I`m running very low on room.
