Crewcab Only Thread.
hi all new to the site , not to old Fords though , I've been hanging on to a 79 F-350 long bed crew cab 351M 4 speed and now I'm tossing around the idea about putting it back on the road, I converted it to a dually front hubs and put duals on the back , my problem is the rear end is too narrow for a standard bed (witch is got rid of) to clear the inner tires and im not sure if I should go with a flatbed or undo the dually thing and just find another dent side bed, i have a nice aluminum diamond plate flat bed on a 82 F350 that i could use if i went that route, any thoughts?
On the Super Camper Special trucks the moved the entire inner panel inboard so there is no overhang on the bed rail, it would be quite a bit of work to modify a regular bed in this manner but is possible. Or you could just put in bigger wheel tubs.
Concerning flatbed or modifying I would really consider your intended use for the truck. I am a fan of the 5th wheel style beds that "beaver tail" on the end however for the uses of my truck a traditional style bed is more fitting for me.

Well Im getting back into drag racing and I need to decide on a tow vehicle, either the crew cab or I also have a 79 Bronco that I was also considering, but Ive been hearing some bad things about using a Bronco to tow with due to the short wheel base, so that is kinda where im at right now, i need to buy a trailer so either gooseneck or tag along depending on which way I decide
For towing I would absolutely go with the Crew Cab. I pull with mine all the time and it is actually more stable than my buddy's '09 four door Chevy Duramax pulling identical loads.
If you are going to use it to pull race cars, I'd go with a flat bed.Gives you options for under-hung tool boxes, etc.

Unless someone swapped in a different axle I believe it should already have a 60 in the rear. Look at the axle housing to the lower left side of the differential cover and it should have the model number cast into the housing.
There is an endless number of sources for front floor pans; Jeff's Bronco Graveyard, Mac's, NPD, LMC, Rockauto, ect, ect, ect
If you're referring to the rear pans then I believe you are going to have to fabricate, been a while since I read this entire thread, I suggest you read the ENTIRE thread and it will give you more answers than you have questions for yet.

New Crew Capper
Hello
Greetings from Finland. I have 1976 F250 Crew Cap 2wd with 460cid and c6. Car was almost whole of it´s life in Nebraska but in 2009 it was bought by finnish person at ebay and it was shipped to Finland same year. I came it´s happy owner couple months ago. It´s almost rust free and i´m tend to keep it that way.
After 2010 car just stands in carage until it came to me. Now i have fixed carburetor, brakes and everything else that wasn´t working. It has 2 gas tank´s (originally 3 but the rear one has been taken off in USA for some reason). Now i have take off side tank because it was very dirty and trying to clean it up.
My plan for this Crew Cap was to restore it like it was in 1976. But i´m going to do little customize instead. I´ll have remove bumpers and there´s gonna be some roller pans instead. Interior is originally and in excellent condition and it´s going to be like that. Car is blue now but it might get new color on it. I have some years ago 4wd -77 single cap Ranger and it have some problem that this Ford have´s, roof is in great condition but it seems to be weak. If you press it gentle it backs down but comes back to it´s shape. Friend of mine is going build supports from sheet metal that can be assempled inside roof. I don´t know if this normal for F-series and if it is can somebody tell me why.
Because cruising season is over in here until may i have good time to built it like i want. This is CAR that i always wanted to own beside many other US-cars which i have owned. Believe or not but this is only 70´s Crew Cap Ford in Finland.
I have picture´s but i don´t have a clue how to put it in here

Hullfm; For towing I would say go with the crew, I tow with mine constantly and it does great. I did and suggest upgrading to Hydroboost brake booster as it has been the best thing I've done to my truck. Used my buddies 79 Bronco to tow once and never again!
If you have the option then gooseneck is the way to go concerning weight and road manners, traditional class 5 is good but if you're planning on having a race car, parts, tires, tools then the weight adds up really fast.
Canada Crew Cab; do you have a photo of the strange bump in your floor?
Sunley,; you can't post in the classifieds because you have only made one post on the site and there is a minimum in order to keep spam ect off the site.
Fincrew; the company (companies) that ford sent the trucks to for the crew conversions made their own roof panels and did it very cheaply, they all need more support. It is popular for people to replace the roof panel with one off a van or newer truck with the ribs in order to add rigidity to them. Congradulations on finding a crew overseas!
READ THE ENTIRE THREAD! If everyone would take the time to do this most of your questions would be answered in lengthy detail multiple times! At a minimum read the last 10 pages before you post a first time question as things get repeated a LOT due to people being too lazy to READ THE THREAD!
Thank you.

FinCrew, hello from Texas and congratulations on the Crew Cab. To answer one of your questions, Crews did not come with the rear tank that a conventional pick up had. It has to do with weight and balance regulations by the U.S. government. That is why Crew Cabs retained the tank behind the rear seat in the cab long after all other models.
Here's a photo of my "76 Crew Cab:
Good luck with your project. Keep reading in the 'Dentside' (1973-1979 section). There is a lot of information to be found there. You'll find lots of people here to help when you have questions, too.
Thanks for you all. I apologize my finnglish, i´ll try to write better english.
I´ll need upper side trim, are they hard to find. I haven´t found those trims for Crew Cap, only Single or Super Cap seems to be for sale.

Fincrew; You're easier to understand than a lot of the people who have English as a first language.
Nobody makes (to my knowledge) the pieces that go between the doors, or on the rear doors. Other than these 4 pieces the rest is the same as a Standard Cab truck. You will either have to find these pieces used and refurbish them the best you can or will have to try and modify other pieces to fit.

May be the only Crew Cab in Finland, but not the only Finlander to have a Crew Cab.
Good to see my brothers from the north drivin' the best.
About the roofs-whats the problem? they are identical to the single cab trucks, just longer. They weren't made to be sat on, thats all.

Big thanks for your replies folks. You are helpful and friendly people. Pleasent surprise to find other finlanders here.
I bought Super Cap trims from ebay about hour ago. When these trims arrive Finland after couple of weeks, im going to do some cutting and clueing.
Problem with the roof is that it´s weak (like they all are). It´s not rusted or dented.
So i think that supports are best way to make it stonger.
Because i´m rebuilding this truck to myself, i want that every part of my Ford is decent.
