Yes, yet another X fixed. Thanks to all that contributed to the thread, alot of reading but well worth the money saved and a little education never hurts!
have been having same trouble with my 01 superduty lately . this fix is so simple hard to believe it will work but sure does. locks are a lot more powerful just hit the button once and are locked or unlocked. thanks for the post whoever came up with it.
The thermister (heat sensitive resistor) wafer restricts the flow of electricity in varying degrees depending on the heat caused by electrical resistance and is so sensitive that it is even affected by ambient heat (heat of the day). I did all mine except one and it works fine in the winter but not in the summer. Removing the wafer is like removing the restrictor in your shower head and gives you the full force of the electricity which allows the unit to function like it should .........whack! The drawback being you will burn your motor out if you lay on the switch too long which is just a matter of making sure nobody does it.
Thanks for all the info. I went through all 48 pages of posts...Whew!
I got to page 34 and decided to have a go at it...Finished 3 doors on the 99 F350 CC yesterday afternoon and will do the 4th this AM. Great fix!!

Hi Everyone... I'm new. I tried to read all of this thread, but my head is dizzy! I think I got to page 22 or something like that!
Anyway, as my id suggests, it's a 1988 Bronco II.
All of my doors LOCK... neither unlock switch unlocks anything. It's a 2 door with the back hatch.
I've been trying to find the unlock relay because perhaps that's bad. I called a local Ford place and they said they "thought" it was under the dash on the driver side, or on the firewall on the driver's side. I couldn't find it there in either place.
I did find the major connector in front of the battery tray, a little lower and behind the passenger side headlight. After that connector, the wire bundle disappears. That's as far as I got tracing things.
The actuators MUST be working as it's an immediate lock on all three doors.
Any suggestions?
One other thing... I had a wonderful Black German Shepherd that passed away three weeks ago. He used to lean on the door, and he might have just leaned too long against the door unlock switch on the passenger side...
I'm great with BMWs... I have an 85 325e that I can dismantle and reassemble in my sleep, and am a moderator for a major BMW DIY board, but this thing is throwing me fits! BTW, I also posted a similar new post in the Bronco II section, but it doesn't appear that there's much activity there..
Finished the 4th door this AM...Everything locks and unlocks like new. They quit working 7 or 8 years ago...The 4-500 dollar bill was enough to inspire me to just use the keys. Also I maintained that the exercise involved with walking around the Big A** Truck to unlock the passenger side was good for me. What a joke. Now if I can figure out how to make the red "Door Ajar" light work correctly I'll be good to go. Hey, it's not A jar, it's a Door.
This forum is awesome!! thanks.

There are two switches that sense if the door is open.
One is just for the dome lights.
The other one is the one that senses that "a door is ajar".
If I recall correctly, shooting the latch assembly thoroughly with WD or LPS can free up the stickiness in this switch. Those that have had to perform this on their trucks will certainly know for sure and chime in here.

Help!
I think you are on the right track, and it most-likely IS the "unlock relay", for all the logical reasons you mention.
However, you will get a better answer if you are patient with the guys on the Bronco list you also posted to today. They know the vehicle far better than us SuperDuty guys do (that IS the forum where this is posted), and will likely lead you straight to that failed piece..
I know this is the wrong forum, but in a frantic search via Google, this thread came up, and I was hoping one of you had seen something like this before in a similar tiny little inferior truck !
