EX finally can lock the doors without going to each door.
Thanx for your post. i did the driver door first then all the rest including the lift gate. this is alot better than spending 40 bucks per door for new actuators.
This is a great thread! I wish I would've known about it five years ago. I had a '99 Ford F150 that I had from '05-'11. Had problems with the actuators the whole time I owned it.
I did this fix and it did not work for me but I know why it didn't. When I was pulling the end off the electric motor, I knocked one of the carbon brushes off. I then bent the copper wires the wrong way to reconnect them. I had it put together incorrectly and connected power to it. I connected power back to it and tried the lock and saw the dreaded puff of white smoke.
I assume this burned the motor out. So be very careful when removing the end cap of the motor and pay close attention to how the brushes are in when putting back together.
Thread started like five years ago and STILL helping guys out!! Did this just yesterday and it worked perfectly!!!
When I first hit unlock with the key fob the passenger door didn't unlock and I thought something was wrong. It has been SO long since I had the passenger door PDL work that I completely FORGOT it unlocked with the second click of the key fob!!!
I took a few pics if anyone needs some detail. Also dbase880, you didn't post a link to the video (maybe you need more posts before you can do that so be sure to come back and update with a link)!
Did the repair 2 years ago, but motors burned up. Suspecting the button was held down... 2 replacement "new design" actuators, delivered, from PartsGuyEd was well under $100.
VICTORY!!!
My 2000 F350 Crew Cab now has all four doors working. I just bought the truck a few months back and the locks were dead on all four doors. Took about 4 hours total (including a re-do on one door) Thanks for the vid it was really helpful!!!!
Thanks to all for the fix. Finally found time to tackle the rear door on a F350 7.3L. Utilized the .01 method. Worked like a champ. Hopefully get to the other rear door soon. Does not help having fat hands!
