Feel free to do just that, assuming you can find a replacement that fits and has the same specifications.

More questions than answers. Have F250 with power locks. Had to replace batteries today after jumping it off to the parts store. Problem is the door locks quit working an door ajar light is on and the warning bell that used to chime doesn't anymore. Changed fuse and still nothing. Is there a second fuse panel or relay for the door locks?

Did the tin foil fix on my passsenger door the other day. Not only did it work great but it was actually quite easy once I figured out to remove the outside handle to get more room. Anybody know how long the tomfoolery should last though?

Many many years, as long as nobody lays on the lock. The thermister was the weak point, not the motor.

Did mine 3 years ago and still locks/unlocks with a whack!. Not that lazy "will it work?" noise.

They just get lazier and lazier until they don't work. The outside temperature affects them also, mine worked better in the winter than the summer. You might as well do all of them. I used tin foil on mine........crammed it in the place where the wafer was.

FYI-if You do choose to use the Dorman door actuator relacements, I found this:

I saw the name Stoneridge on the plastic of the Dorman product.
And this is what I found when I searched Stoneridge.

Stoneridge

Click on "About Stoneridge", for some history.

Just performed the "foil" trick myself on my rear passenger door. Problem solved. I must say this is one of the best finds ever for a chronic problem.

Did mine over 2 years ago with foil. Occasionally one is slow to respond, but they work just fine 99.5% of the time. Best of all, it was FREE!!
